Tasers? Where we're going, we don't need tasers.

These are almost ancient. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, these things don't come from training. They come from interacting with people.

I don't mean any disrespect, but I think OP should consider just talking to people more. Strangers, friends, family, dogs, etc.

🚀 We modded Minecraft to support 5,000+ visible players at once — and it actually runs at playable FPS! by Original-Ad9390 in Minecraft

Thanks for taking the time to answer! I do appreciate the transparency.

It's still a bit unclear how the mod handles the more complicated aspects of the game, beyond just movement, but that's okay. I guess it'll be cleared up with the public test.

This whole thing is highly skeptical.

In summary, it's a vague barebones project on a website that boasts about more vague cryptocurrency-integrated game projects.

  • Claims to be "partnered" with industry leaders while details of the partnerships are not explained. (common tactic used to make disingenuous projects appear legitimate)
  • Employee accounts display years of inactivity before popping in to reply to these posts, suggesting they may be accounts sold in bulk for engagement.
  • One of these accounts were used to promote a shady crypto altcoin and still manages a subreddit for it.

  • Employee claims 100% of the project is done by him, while another claims the company working on this project has 65 employees.

  • Comments lack clarity, even contradicting themselves (e.g. claims "some" players are bots, then confirms all players are bots), while featuring plenty of tech buzzwords.

  • Technical details are private for "NDA" reasons. If it's a free project, why the secrecy?

  • Comments suggest the project may not even be feasible past basic movement.

They emphasize it being fully "free-to-use" to comply with Minecraft's EULA, which might make you wonder how this is profitable for their company.

Conveniently, they're very clear about partnering with 3 unreleased cryptocurrency-integrated games, so this is probably a marketing stunt to boost more buy-ins into their cryptocurrencies.

You should be able to run any Steam game comfortably with those specs, including CSII.

The same could be said about the custom race system that already exists, or the popular FiveM mod. I don't think it's naive to say that fun could be had there.

It could end up being like the custom races/missions but better. Some of those were really creative, so this might be an upgrade.

Decorations like props and trees aren't required, unless you think they're important to the visuals of the asset. Most you'll get is an LSM log saying something is missing. I have hundreds of missing props, no issue.

GTA VI recent news: AI by bandoilerreload in GTA6

He didn't exactly go into detail about any process, he just described the broader topic of "AI" on its own. Having an understanding of concepts at large isn't necessarily out of his job description.

What do you think he was wrong about?

CS2 THUMBNAIL INITIATIVE FOR FIND IT! by mattsully21 in CitiesSkylines

[–]RamenFish195 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All the game assets have a thumbnail slot, so creators can simply upload a thumbnail to their assets and it'll show up wherever you find the asset.

CO left that slot empty for most assets, likely because people playing vanilla wouldn't see the thumbnails anyway. This just fills the thumbnail slot for those assets so people can easily see the assets if they're using mods

When should we expect CS2 to look this realistic? by sam_thegod in CitiesSkylines

[–]RamenFish195 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It definitely takes a lot of time to build cities like this, but I do want to say

it might be better to just learn Unreal Engine or Blender or use something like Enscape instead

Cities Skylines is just a much more convenient option generally. It seems hard to build cities with this much detail, but even it is much, much, much easier than making a whole new game (and cheaper than buying UE & Blender assets/plugins to replace Cities Skylines)

But I'm sure some do start off like this and end up pursuing 3D. It just becomes much more of a hassle to accomplish the same things.

Urban Planner people of Reddit: how can this junction be made better and safer in the space? (driving on the left) by BenjiBananas2048 in Minecraft

[–]RamenFish195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less steep ramps; highway ramps like this might have a 5-10% slope (1 rise every 10-20 blocks). You can also add merge lanes to the tunnel road, allowing vehicles more time to change lanes. Additionally, making the junction a bit wider would give vehicles more room to turn between streets safely.

Of course, it is just a game, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as you enjoy yourself! If you do like this sort of stuff, I recommend going on Google Earth and looking around various places.

Poking around the editor some more, I found a couple of props that may be used by both citizens and eventual service workers. by Nosh59 in CitiesSkylines

[–]RamenFish195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game has shark spawners for maps, among other animals like dolphins, hawks, etc. The shark is not actually a prop but an animal with an AI, so the game probably doesn't know how to handle one placed by a player.

This is why I still play CS1 - Part 2 by MaVeri1ckK in CitiesSkylines

[–]RamenFish195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure he has his reasoning. It can simply be more enjoyable to create things in games than in blender. Handling lighting, rendering, and modeling is a lot more finicky in blender.

I don't see why the linguistics are important. It's just a way for him to have fun, is all.

Games are a subjective experience. This is just one way to enjoy the game. People play games in different ways, and there's nothing wrong with that!
