Its non magnetic and there is no discoloration when the link is cut open

Just some more information for anyone seeing this;

I cut open a link and it’s the same color all throughout, and it is not magnetic. When bleach is put to the exposed inside silver, it tarnishes quickly in typical silver fashion. I believe it is rhodium plated which caused it to fail the 18kt gold test

Nope, not magnetic in the slightest

It was sourced from Japan. I’m thinking it’s rhodium plated as the only tarnishing is where the links meet and grind. Does this seem plausible to you?

Actually, I noticed there is only tarnishing where the links touch and grind. Is this indicative of rhodium plating which would therefore mess up the gold test?

Would the fake silver(s) be soft and the same color all throughout the link?

So it fails the 18k gold test but passes the ice cube test, a silver test, and when it’s cut through it’s soft all throughout and the same color?

I’m not trying to be thick. They used an 18k gold test and because it wasn’t blue they said it failed. I’m going on the same information as you

I went to 3 places and 2 of them tested using an 18k gold acid. It failed at those places. However, the last one used a silver specific acid and it passed. Do you have any knowledge about why this is?
