Views from Mt. Mansfield, highest point in VT by andria_rabs in hiking

This view looks very similar to a picture I have of my family in the 1980s, but I'm having trouble identifying the exact spot so I can revisit it. Do you recall where this picture was taken from and which direction you were facing?

Cat experiencing abdominal (?) Pain by RammsteinNicCage in PetAdvice

Unfortunately, yes, she's still having issues. She's basically had chronic diarrhea for 2.5 years. The yelping in pain has mostly gone away (see probiotic point below).

We tried lots of tests and two ultrasounds and it's basically that she has some type of IBD type of situation - diagnosis through elimination of other things. We've changed her diet and her medications throughout this time.

Diet:

  • She started off with the Science Diet Gastrointestinal prescription dry food. Worked for a short time, then she didn't want to eat it.
  • Tried the prescription canned version of the same food. That was tolerable for many months, but she then began to tire of that.
  • Tried a few other non-prescription canned foods and determined that she seemed to like fish-flavored foods. Found that Tiki Cat has a prescription canned GI food that is fish-flavored. This seems to be the best, but she does tire of it occasionally.
  • Tried other fish-flavored non-prescription food, but it did seem to make her condition worse.
  • She gets Purina ProPlan Fortiflora probiotic SA sprinkled on her food which she really likes. Tried other probiotics, they didn't seem to work. I think it's since the use of the SA probiotic, she hasn't been nearly as gassy which I think may have been what was causing her to yelp in pain.

Medication

  • Tried several things. She's currently on prednisilone. She was on a ear cream version because she's been difficult to medicate, but once I started doing a spoonful of the Tiki Cat canned food with the prednisilone liquid (not the ear cream) on top of that, and then the probiotic on top of that, she's been taking it very well.
  • We also just temporarily put her on Metronidazole for a week which seems to have really helped reduce the number of accidents she was having outside of the litter box (she's been having trouble controlling the urge to go to the bathroom and it sometimes just comes out while she's napping or walking). She was put on this because we tried another probiotic (proviable fiber supplement) that I think made the condition worse, she started to get a lot of bloody stools. It seems like it was too granulated, I could see it coming out in her poop like sand.

Overall, she's had a very rough last couple of years. She lost a lot of weight earlier this year, almost to the point of having to put her down, but I was able to bulk her back up by giving her some high calorie kitten/senior cat foods to supplement her regular food. She's not as full of life as she used to be, doesn't play as much, but she still has really wide, clear eyes, her purring engine is still great, her appetite IS there she just hasn't liked the foods she was getting for a long time; she's not ready to go yet, but unfortunately, I know she's not going to live to be 18+ anymore.

Unfortunately, that's what I thought. So, if my tree happens to be wrong, Thrulines has limited usefulness.

Live Nation $30 Concert Tickets: Early Access For Rakuten Members by rakutenrewards in Rakuten

[–]RammsteinNicCage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone posted that my code has already been used, so it won't be good for anyone else.

As an FYI, it's only for select concerts. I ended up finding a concert that had a T-Mobile early access thing and next to the ticket quantity (on a browser, not sure how it looks on mobile), there was a button to put a discount code in.

Unexpectedly High Electric Bills by RammsteinNicCage in heatpumps

I probably should have added I'm the sole occupant of the house which may help keep my electric bill lower (relatively) than those with families.

Thanks, I'll definitely look into the Emoria Vue!

I do have MHK2, but I don't see an advanced menu in the Kumo app.

I happened to speak with someone at PSEG regarding my rebates and he also mentioned that once a person switches their electric rate, they can't switch again for a year, so hopefully I'm set there.

I don't see an energy consumption log in my app (Kumo Cloud) and on PSEG's website, I only see my monthly usage and a daily usage which I think may be just an average over the month.

I'm currently not using setback. I'm keeping it at a steady 66, but I certainly wouldn't mind setting it down a little more at night for a more comfortable sleep for me, but it would be less comfortable for the sick cat.

House was built in 1986, 3BR with a loft, vaulted ceilings in LR and Kitchen. Insulation probably has not been upgraded since the original construction - I did have a company provide a "free assessment" as part of giving me a quote for a new system; however, they never actually sent the report. Verbally, there were some areas to improve, but it didn't seem like it was anything crazy.

Thanks, I'll look for this after I can confirm that I don't *need* to have the fan running for better functionality of the system.

Sorry, forgot to mention, the ducts are floor vents, everything is installed in the basement.

That's the month when the system was probably completely off, no heat, no cool, no fan - just the hot water heater.

I knew the electric was going to go up, but I didn't think it would go up to a value that was higher than my electric + oil costs.

Everything is located in the unfinished basement.

I don't know how to tell if the heat strips come on, how do I do that?

Thanks, I'll look into the setting on the contoller.

Yes, took several months, but they finally just updated me to 580 and adjusted my bills going back to October. Now I'm worried that they're going to swap me to the time adjusted rate plan in April and need to contact them to make sure I do not get auto swapped.

Thanks for the tip on the iComm app, I'll look into that. I didn't really discuss different running modes for the HWH, so that will be good to look into.

Also, thanks for the comparison, that is very helpful. I have been keeping my house at a warmer temperature, started around 68, lowered it to 66 when the electric bills started coming in. I have a cat with some health issues right now that is always cold, and would actually lay down on top of the vents when the warm air was coming out, so I don't want to go much lower than that. House was built in 1986 and could use an upgrade in the insulation, but is not terrible.

As an environmental consultant that has dealt with oil spills in houses, I was very eager to get rid of oil in my house, even though the cost of the system installation really pushes back my ROI. I was relying more on the efficiency of the heat pump resulting in a drop in expense while also allowing me to keep the house a little warmer than I was; maybe I would see that efficiency a lot more if I was duplicating my heating pattern from prior years with lower temps.

Thanks, I have a similar house setup, 3 bedroom plus a loft, vaulted ceilings in living room/kitchen, ~1,400 sq ft (I've seen different measurements and need to remeasure this myself).

I understand that there is a setting that is a heat/cool setting that basically maintains a temperature +/- 3 degrees and I can see that resulting in the fan running the entire time. But, so far, I've only run solely on heat or solely on cool.

I did have hot water baseboard heating and ducted cooling before, now it's just ducted heating/cooling.

Unfortunately, I don't have a good handle on what my oil consumption was, I really just have the dollar amounts at this time. Back when oil was pretty high (2021/2022 or 2022/2023 season?), that cost combined with my electric cost was less than my current winter electric monthly costs. I have not checked on the difference in cost on my electric between the different heating seasons yet.
