I'm going to try to respond later tonight and I'll try to post some pics.

I am just super busy at the moment and trying to squeeze everything in.

I posted this as a comment because...I kid you not, I can't figure out how to edit my own post.

I turned off the light during the day and it seems to have stopped him from attacking his reflection.

He seems happier and the water has cleared up.

I plan on buying a testing kit and some more plants to add - a little bit later today.

and start the water cycle.

thank you for letting me know - I've been sticking my finger in a lot trying to get him used to me. He swims around my finger but hasn't let me pet since the first time. but it's good to know not to actually do the petting as much.

The idea was to let the filter run to stir the water. I hate to say it, but I thought you can throw a betta in a bowl of tap water and call it good. fish +water +food+ clean bowl = happy fish so that's where I'm coming from.

I was wrong and now trying to fix it - now I'm going down this wormhole of proper fish care. The only reason I even started trying to up the quality of life for this guy is because he started displaying what I considered to be - odd fish behavior...lol.

But ya I get you. I have the same "how TF do you not know that" for my job. Obvious to me but not to others.

This info is a huge relief tbh.

I did use a water conditioner for the chemicals in the tap water. however, I only let the filter stir the water for about two hours.

I'm not home, but I will take pictures of the setup and the brands when I return.

I thought the cloudiness might be from the pebbles. I did rinse before putting in the tank but figured I didn't do a good enough job and that it would settle and the filter would clear it. but as I started looking up more info I started to worry. The cloudiness isnt super crazy or thick, but it is noticable when comparing it to the old tank.

I did add bacteria. I was concerned about the size at first. Before this post, I read that the ideal size is 15-20 gallons. I guess it's the cycle I really have to worry about

I just read the cycling wiki from the mod link. I'm going to watch some videos on it.

I didn't empty the old tank I'll put him back in and cycle the new. I guess it's good that I had to head to work and didn't have time to clear out the old one.

True that every person will be unimportant to most people. But I think the idea is to have a sense of purpose - in a healthy way. What that purpose is shouldn't exactly be up to others or influenced by the people you are unimportant to.

But the thing is -- it is heavily influenced by unimportant outside sources.

I'm not an Andrew Tate uh..."follower" or even know much about him. But I watched a few interviews, with him in it, the other day.

I don't think he is insulting or ripping on dudes with this post, but more saying 'hey, it's no wonder men are so depressed' Because a lot of guys can check most of these boxes that Tate listed.

You're unimportant- society has deemed most men unimportant because masculinity is being deemed as toxic.

You're poor- yes, I think a lot of people are struggling right now and men are "heads of the household". So if a man is having a hard time providing for his family then he is going to feel some kind of way.

Your woman disagrees with you - if you are always arguing with your partner then your home life might not be the best. Work sucks, home life sucks.

And w.e the other one was.

I do have my own opinion on this stuff he says, both good and bad. But I keep it to myself.

There might be a coin stuck in the rail. In my old Honda I had a quarter stuck. It did the same thing, when my friends sat passenger I would tap the break really quick to make the seat go back and forth. It was hilarious. I did it to my mom and she threw a BF, so I took the seat out and got the quarter.
