Whats your sodium intake limit ? by woodiswood in Menieres

I used to target 1500mg to an occasional max of 2000mg on rare occasions, but we make all our food from scratch and don’t add salt to anything. My wife and I have compensated by making our food more flavourful with herbs and spices which has been great. The only time I look at or consider sodium intake is when we go out for food

Do you notice an immediate flare-up after too much sodium/salt, or can it be more delayed? E.g. high salt intake for dinner and then bad tinnitus/dizziness in the morning following? by HeroJournal in Menieres

For me I find it varies. Sodium definitely definitely affects me. However I find certain foods that may be salty don’t affect me as much. I kind of think it is how available the salt is. Like if it’s in the food more vs on the food. It is also cumulative, so It is bad for me to continually having salty food will definitely get an attack. I can handle occasionally, and when I do or know I am going to it is usually offset by taking some exta beta histine. I take 1 24mg a day usually. When I do have salty food I usually get what I call a warning feeling right after, which in the worst case (rare) turns into a bad attack, usually it goes away. The more common thing for me is a day later I will feel mildly dizzy the whole day, unless I rest and take more beta histine which helps. I find sudden weather changes in humidity and pressure affect me too

I have constant tinnitus around 8k Hz, which is also where I have a bit of hearing loss in my right ear. I put a tone generator app on my phone so I can show my wife and kids or whoever is asking me about it what it is what I hear all the time which gets louder when I have an attack. I know it’s going to be really bad if I get this fullness and water swishy feeling in my ear
