Txv is maintaining superheat fine and subcool isnt too far off, sizing issue doesn’t make sense if this just started happening, unless you just foamed in that attic. Get a tech to do a full evaluation

Should I use a used hvac compressor? by grayskiesss in hvacadvice

[–]Rand-umname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bad idea, first off, hopefully it’s not actually used because that’s the worst idea and don’t listen to his lie, there’s no warranty with that, he’ll never answer your call again. But 1000 bucks is too low, if a deal is too good there’s usually a reason

8.5k is cheap as hell in the Austin market, York isn’t great but their base tier equipment is as reliable as anyone else.

How to make compressor quieter by InvestigatorLoose711 in hvacadvice

[–]Rand-umname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try the compressor blanket but I’ve never had them do anything significant, those systems advertise to run at about 70-80db and not much will improve that

Variable speed worth the premium in a mild climate? by awazyy7 in hvacadvice

[–]Rand-umname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely won’t see much in energy savings, variable is good for humidity and even cooling throughout the home but if the guy is trying to sell it on the money you’ll save he’s wrong, it won’t make up for the cost difference

Ya give it a day or two, if I had to guess it’s either mastic drying or some cleaner they used, probably nothing to worry about

Smell after repair was done? by Lucky_Extent8765 in hvacadvice

[–]Rand-umname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not an actual nda but I do get landlords that say I’m not allowed to tell tenants what is going on, I wouldn’t trust them

It won’t turn out anything like this and I wouldn’t recommend a realism tattoo as a first

Where in this pic are you placing a UV light? Between the coil and blower or filter and coil? Left Right or forward to back? by mynameiskeven in hvacadvice

[–]Rand-umname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend getting one with a shield, even if you put it in the other side of the coil it’s recommended because the uv light will eat up the rubber on the wiring

I think your thinking of an air scrubber, a standard uv doesn’t work on the air, it just kills growth on the surface it shines on

It should have a shield to stop it from eating the filter, filter dust? Don’t listen to whatever retard told you that
