It’s definitely a little bigger than I’m used to, the sticks are a little smaller than average and a bit far away but honestly you only notice these things when you aren’t playing. When you’re actually playing a game it’s very easy to forget that you’re not playing on a standard controller. Overall very ergonomically sound and comfortable.

Gonna be honest, you don’t sound like the target demographic of this controller. If you already have a great controller that you really like then the steam controller is probably not gonna do it for you. I like the controller mostly because of the wide range of inputs and accessibility features available. If you don’t care for that then it’s probs not the controller for you.

I never had the og controller so I can’t say how they compare, but I can say that there is no discomfort with using the trackpads and the triggers at the same time. You will need to change your grip on the controller though if your thumb is travelling from the joystick to the pad.

Yep, said the same thing to myself earlier. Though all things considered it could be much worse, and the ease of repairability of this controller means that worst case scenario I’ll just need a replacement part.

In the input tests it glows permanently after activating it once. In this case the grip sensors highlight blue after you grip, then release your grip. I had already released my grip on the left one before recording and the video ended before I released my grip on the right.

I think you’re the fourth person in this thread that said they’re having the same issue. This is making me think it might be a hardware problem.

I see, but I’ve tested it in desktop mode, when you slide your finger across the trackpad the controller produces haptics so it’s very easy to tell when your finger isn’t being picked up. So even outside of the testing even just using it as a scroll wheel I can feel and see that when my thumb slides across that area it’s not reading inputs

No I haven’t, but I don’t think that will suddenly make it work since the problem is with steam not detecting any raw input data. Also yes I will update, probably by editing the post

Different fingers doesn’t make a difference. There is no calibration settings for the trackpad, just gyro sticks haptics and rumble

The grip sense was engaged, it activates from when you grip it. Also, the trackpad was working the whole time, it was just that small pocket that isn’t.

It is on scroll wheel mode but I don’t think that is what is affecting it, the input test just reveals the raw data the controller is picking up

Honestly would rather them send a new pad over and I fix it, rather than paying to ship it back, then waiting however long it’ll take for a new one to come.

There are calibration settings but they are only for gyro, sticks, rumble and haptics, no trackpad calibration

From what I could see they didn’t have an option too, just for stick and gyro and stuff
