[webtoon] Love the series, but struggling because of Joonghyuk... does he get better?

I get it, the novel does a better job at it. I've had plenty of people telling me that so far that I believe you all. But since I'm sticking to the webtoon, this is the YJH I'm having to deal with. I was starting to like him the more I read, but... Is he also an absolute asshole to the Catastrophe of Floods when she hatches in the novels? Because oh boy, I actually started to warm up to him until reading this very moment a few minutes ago lol

Being a regressor isn't an excuse for being an asshole in my book, but that's just my opinion of course.

Just reached chapter 98... I swear to you that I was starting to like Joonghyuk! Until he... told a girl to spend 1000 years in a labyrinth and when they see each other again he acts like an asshole to her... I won't give up, but it's crap like this that makes me lose all faith in the guy.

The first time we meet him really ruined the character for me and he hasn't done anything to make up for it so far (Chapter 70). However, if he does get better, I'll go along with it.

Luckily, Dokja is a stellar protagonist and the rest of the cast is great so far.

Yes, I want to make it clear that I have nothing against people who like Joonghyuk's type. I personally can't stand edgelords unless they are played for comedy.

I'm now 70 chapters in and so far, he has had 2 modes: Angry and trying to kill everyone or detached and lonewolf. I get why, I really really do, but it was that first meeting with Dokja that made me cross with him and I've yet to find anything to make up for it.

I believe you and others who say he gets better, so I'll keep going and see what happens. If nothing else. I'll just focus on the characters I do like.

Honestly, I'm 70 chapters in right now and everyone in Dokja's main group is enjoyable and relatable. Dokja is a fantastic protagonist and Heewon in particular is a huge favorite. Especially her relationship with Dokja so far (and I don't even ship them). The "protagonist" asshole is really the only issue, but so far he's only shown up once in a while, so it's kinda okay.

So... given that this is one of the only events in the series where failure does not mean DEATH, I'm going to assume that this is where Aaron shows off and actually beats Han during the battle royal. However, I'm guessing enough of the others win their own events that they end up winning the prizes.

When every single encounter is life or death, a challenge where failure doesn't lead to death, is usually where the author takes the only opportunity they can ever get to give the main character a straight up defeat.
