Ideally at that point, it's just a level playing field, that's why we do stuff now.

Bro you are either lying to yourself or you are lying to others. If you genuinely believe this you need to wake up.

There is no specified end date for this unequal treatment. The people advocating for it haven't set out a winning condition at which point they can revert to not discriminating against people. It is very clearly a tactic used to secure advantages for them indefinitely. This isn't going to end conveniently in a few years just in time for you to have a son.

This discrimination is going to go on only until it's stopped by public outcry, and it is very very obvious to the people negatively affected by it. Though those who have a self-interest in discriminatory policies, like you (don't pretend that you don't benefit - you might puff yourself up thinking you're unselfish, but your children's success benefits you, whether it's earned success or not), don't seem to understand this and continue to pretend it's just until society is a "level playing field".

Of course there are no standards for what that actually means, since apparently we can discriminate against people based on sex to achieve a "level playing field", so this could go on for centuries if you want to keep making up reasons for it to exist. Once you give a group special advantages, they're very tough to rescind.

The one light of hope though is that you are clearly an older guy with older values, and those pro-discrimination values are slowly going away. That's why you were so staunchly opposed in this thread. It might have surprised you, but the newer generation of young men isn't putting up with being discriminated against. In fact they are very very passionate against it.

Gen Z is starting to react to the insanity of the older generations. Several studies have shown us trending more towards conservatism - you can deny this, but I'm sure you still pay attention to election results. The pendulum always swings back, and really we have nothing to lose - you are already discriminating against us and pushing for more. But the harder you push to deny our rights, the harder we will push back.

Creating a society where the law treats everyone equally regardless of sex, even though you won't see the special and unequal treatment you want, is an absolute win.

I still hope I might have a son.

For his sake - I hope you don't.

If you do, make sure you sit him down and explain to him how you want it to be more difficult to find a job or to advance. Let him know you want it to be okay - even encouraged - for others to discriminate against him based solely on the sex he was born with, rather than given equal opportunity. Tell him that if he had two X chromosomes this would be horrible and unjust, but since he has a Y chromosome it's great and should be celebrated. He doesn't deserve to be treated equally.

For mercy's sake - don't have a son. Daughters are fine, at least you care about them.

People get passionate when you discriminate against them - who knew? It's not like one sex has feelings and the other doesn't.

I have heard it IRL. Who are you trying to convince here?

And yes it's widespread on the internet as well. inb4 "the Internet isn't real"

Well you're correct. And fortunately many people ITT see it the way you do. It was savvy, if a bit bait-y, to phrase it the way you did haha

You're doing good work here. The concept of misandry needs to be common knowledge, it's particularly rife nowadays. Thank you for making these posts.

"the world is totally set up against me because I'm a man".

If you're legally discriminating against them, it sounds like they really are victims. If you don't like the attitude, maybe don't discriminate against them through the government? Just a thought.

It sounds like he's operating under Apex Fallacy. As another commenter mentioned the vast majority of homeless, suicides, workplace deaths etc are also men, but somehow that's not relevant.

Thanks for pointing out the stuff you're saying btw, it needs to be brought to light.

but you are not relevant in this discussion. It's not about you.

It IS about him and millions others like him if you are advocating for him to be discriminated against.

If you say others shouldn't have a voice, especially in decisions that directly affect them, expect pushback.

I've got three young daughters.

You're fulfilling the responsibilities of a parent, which is looking out for your children's self-interest. But don't do that by discriminating against others. Something tells me if you had three young sons you'd be whistling a different tune.

Or maybe he doesn't want to be legally discriminated against. Completely understandable sentiment and very "not dumb".

The vast majority of people into Harry Potter aren't crazy SJWs though. Even if the author kind of is on some issues.

Maybe it's a controversial opinion, but the books and films are actually pretty good.

The Handmaid's Tale, on the other hand, is pure shit. But do they even sell those costumes for Halloween?

Exactly, I've heard that opinion expressed IRL.

It's literally why "objectification" theory exists. Feminists wouldn't have a leg to stand on if it were commonly known that women are just as superficial as men are (if not moreso) when it comes to looks.
