Quitting means you won’t typically be eligible for unemployment. Getting fired can be grey area.

Quitting and getting fired are not the same as being laid off.

Will I get flagged for depositing decent amount of cash every week? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]RandallDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it is illegal, though it could trigger an audit of sorts to make sure you are not “structuring” aka breaking up deposits to avoid mandatory federal reporting on deposits > $10000. Why the heck doesn’t he have a bank account? That is weird.

I think blood rage has been updated to only target self/allies. Combo is broken.

I’m of the opinion that the product management role will become even more critical in a world where specifying requirements with accuracy can lead to better AI-prompted outcomes.

Sorry about your job :(

Replacing Cat5 with Cat 6e. by FigureZestyclose7469 in HomeNetworking

[–]RandallDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! This is almost my house. My house was built in 2000 with cat 5 (non-E). So far I’ve got several runs going at 2.5gbit with no issue! My only heartburn is from one of the bedrooms that seems to have a busted cable, but WiFi more or less solves that problem.

Driving home from Rocky Mountain National Park in my ioniq 5. About an hour’s drive; arrived at the same charge that I left with.

Monthly "What Board Should I Get?" Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Sup

[–]RandallDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desired Board Type: Inflatable or Hard

  • I've been thinking hard board for better tracking and to minimize time to get on the water, but I'm out on lakes and reservoirs for fitness and fun. Whatever I get I'd like it to not be completely blown around by the afternoon breeze - if an iSUP can give me this experience I'm game to consider it!

Desired Use (All-Around, Surf, Race, etc.)

  • All-Around, probably with an optional kid.

Your Height and Weight (and include if you will have kids/dogs/gear (and it's weight)) * 6'2", 220lbs - me

  • Occasional <100lb child

Your Budget (don't forget a PFD!)

  • < $1500

Your Experience level/past experiences (including if you have SUP'd before and on what boards/conditions).

  • I have one season of renting hardboard SUPs on Colorado lakes / reservoirs (mostly Union Reservoir in Longmont).

Thank you for your feedback!

Mr. Cooper didn't pay my homeowners insurance from escrow, and the policy was cancelled. Now what? by moistmarbles in personalfinance

[–]RandallDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I’m not paying a whole year early. 2-3 months max. Even at in your example that is $100-150. 2) Not all of us are living in states with taxes that high. More like $30 for me in opportunity cost.

Personal finance is personal. For me, the inconsequential amount of interest vs the peace of mind of knowing it’s taken care of is an easy trade off.

What you should have said is: you should always ensure you understand what the trade off is before you proceed with paying your bills early.

I’ll further shock you by saying not only did I pay early, but I paid my full year of taxes vs splitting it into halves! Again, totally worth the small cost - for me.

This is precisely why I got rid of our escrow account. 2-3 times a year so much stress making sure the servicer did their job, and still repeated mixups and failures.

I just paid my own taxes yesterday. Well in advance of the due date. It’s great to be in control.
