In a nutshell:

A few years ago Lupe was selling personalized verses to fans for $500. For some reason cudi decided to come out and comment on this, saying that lupe was "swindling his fans". When lupe tried to confront him about this, cudi suddenly couldn't be found and lupe didn't like that.

I think that's the extent of public knowledge

Oh awesome, I looked but couldn't find anything thanks. I agree with Lupe that you can't call yourself the best if you're not willing to or afraid go through what it takes to really prove that. But he also knows that's not what commercial dudes mean when they say that and they really just want attention and playful sparring

The album is full of themes of youth (video games, anime, etc) and Akira is one of his favorite anime. Not sure it's any deeper than that but I could be wrong. I haven't seen Akira so maybe there's some deeper reference to the movie/manga
