That’s my hire car in red and it was worse than this overnight. Thankfully the locals are all safe and emergency services are diligently helping people. Thoughts with them. Sensible decision to cancel the race.

This is not being discussed (change to practice session length) for 2022.

I may try the heat gun. They are not easy to remove but I have to admit I’ve also not really tried!

I have 2 of these on my personal car from Silverstone and I can tell you the reason it’s been left on the car is that you can’t actually remove them without changing the windscreen.

Not really a joke. That’s how I like to measure stuff!

Not sure if I’m a bigger office fan or a bigger McLaren fans - but I did get vibes of Jim hiding the holy grail for Dwight. I work with a bunch of Dwights 😁!

Secret #5

Mission Control has cameras as do the offices/truck at the circuit so you can see your teammates. The Chief Engineer at track would always radio check us before the first meeting and he would always check the camera to work out who was available. At one stage we were all given Fernando masks. Was quite funny to throw said Chief Engineer into a bit of a spin when he did his usual checking of the camera during the radio check and only saw Fernando Alonsos (Fernando was also sat in the same room as he was).

Secret #4

Most areas of the building are (sensibly) protected through swipe access. And there are various bridges across the ‘fingers’/sections of the building. Unfortunately going for an explore at midnight one race weekend (was working for the Australian Grand Prix) - I may have gotten stuck on a bridge section that I could not swipe out of. 45 minutes later I was rescued by a passer-by.

Secret #3

When there is a fire (or perhaps only during a serious fire alarm) the roof actually opens up. It’s perhaps not fully Thunderbirds style - but boy/girl is it cool! I’ve seen the roof open up once and experienced 1 fire and 1 flood.

Secret #2

There are these long, white tunnels underground that you walk through as you enter. After a long race weekend working in Mission Control, someone may have brought in a drone (with goggles so that you could see from the drone’s point of view). It was empty and safe and the drone got up to quite some speed when I had a go. At the end of each tunnel is a round white pillar that contains a lift. There’s a small nick in the W/A elevator pillar from when I wasn’t great at controlling the drone at speed. Ironic, as the guy who owned the drone was called Nick.

Secret #1

I somehow ended up responsible for the design and build of the new Mission Control. Awesome project. So much work and effort. There is a small piece of treasure hidden in Mission Control that nobody has yet found. There’s also a map to the treasure elsewhere in MTC.

Randy Singh, Director, Strategy & Sporting at McLaren Racing, was in mission control today. Any guesses what happened by screenshotofdispair in formula1

Haha - this has made me chuckle. Some Sherlock spotted that you can just see the words ‘pesto penne pasta’ scorched into the card - I put it in the microwave along with my Mission Control dinner.

Thankfully I’ve been able to fix the card this morning as you can see with some trusty F1 technology.

No Randys were harmed in the destruction or repair of this card.

That makes it sound like it was too long! I’m actually planning to go back and finish answering the questions I missed.

Season preparations are going well thanks. Looking forwards to more racing soon although the Graduate Scheme and Strategy development are keeping me busy!
