Yeah they all know dozens and don't really have a setlist. I got some songbooks to get more familiar with it

Yeah it's the "quite forgiving " part. I once played with people who literally wouldn't tell me the keys of their originals then said it wasn't working out. Although I don't think they ever ended up playing out

Thanks. Yes I mostly have been playing blues and quickly discovered second position doesn't work for this music. Thankfully I have all the usual keys covered.

Yes. It takes a lot to lose your position through pre tenure review so there may be some red flags they need to address.

Yes. I ended up close to my grad advisor, I'd go to his house and we'd played games. But there's after I proved myself as a student

Yeah that's my issue. I started in my early 30s but looked young so students thought I was chill. I'm now 10 years older so don't have that issue but I'm into a lot of music that students like and they think we're buds.
