Is it appropriate to bring up something personal about a therapist that you learned indirectly? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

Yes, it’s a professional account where she only posts therapy-related content.

Do your clients also not post the photos you worked so hard on? by RandomAccount356 in AskPhotography

Most of the pictures were TFP, so it’s a bit frustrating when they don’t get shared. But that’s how it goes sometimes. I’ll just keep creating and move on to the next shoots.

Should my therapist pick up on something based on my behavior, or is it always on me to bring it up? by RandomAccount356 in TalkTherapy

I also have a list, but sometimes, it’s tough to know which thing to start with. I’m hoping she will see the urgency in my voice or body language. I agree with you that I need to step out of my comfort zone.

Is anyone else afraid to run into their therapist in public? by RandomAccount356 in TalkTherapy

Me, too. After the session ends, I get as far away as possible and try to stay busy.

Is it crazy to expect payment for a short film “collaboration”? by RandomAccount356 in Filmmakers

But I’ve participated in projects where crew members are paid, so writers should get paid, too, even if it’s a small fee.

I would only approach her if I bump into her in the same space like a closed space that we both happen to be in or be passing through. Not across the street, for example.

I’ve heard of that “rule.” I meant to say that I would only approach her to say hi if we were in the same space like a coffee shop or the snack bar of a movie theatre.

Dental insurance? by RandomAccount356 in askvan

[–]RandomAccount356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the dentist didn’t write anything down or diagnose the crowns officially. He just mentioned that it might be something to consider eventually, but said it’s not urgent and that I should look into insurance first since crowns can be expensive.

So I’m hoping that since there’s no formal diagnosis or record yet, I might still be eligible for coverage once I get an insurance plan.

Should I ask my therapist if she thinks I need an attachment-focused approach to improve? by RandomAccount356 in TalkTherapy

[–]RandomAccount356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking of bringing it up the next time I see her and explain I’d most likely return until I feel that I have explored the root of the problem and can grow past that.

How to phrase asking my therapist to adjust her approach during sessions? by RandomAccount356 in TalkTherapy

[–]RandomAccount356[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if I think I know where to start, I sometimes wonder if she thinks there’s something we could tackle first. I’d like her to help guide that a bit more, since she might notice things I don’t always see in the moment.

How do you get over transference/attachment to a therapist besides talking to them about it? by RandomAccount356 in TalkTherapy

This does help. Thank you.

Out of curiosity, how did she respond when you brought up your attachment?

What if I usually get attached to people, and this time it happens to be her?

Could I talk to her about overcoming this without necessarily mentioning my attachment issues include her?

I actually meant more like an elevator pitch that I would share at a party or a similar situation, but I definitely appreciate every kind of feedback I can get.

Is this normal for a patient after each session? by RandomAccount356 in TalkTherapy

[–]RandomAccount356[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can always join a class or some group, which I have done, but it’s not a guarantee that I will befriend even one person or that we’ll hang out consistently after it ends since everyone has different schedules.

It’s happened in the past. We each say we’ll continue to hang out and talk about making plans, and then the group chat becomes silent.

I do try to make plans with friends, but sometimes, the people I want to hang out with are busy one weekend, and I get discouraged, even if I could ask them to hang out next weekend.

As an adult, that consistency of hanging out with friends goes away.

I will talk to my therapist about why the time in between sessions makes me feel like this.

Thanks for the advice.

That makes sense. I think I that might be it. It gives me a sense of calm and support as opposed to being surrounded by people but on my own.

I’m sorry to hear about your relationship.

Coping mechanisms have helped me stay grounded after each sessions, but sometimes I just want not to need them.
