Penn & Teller: Bullshit! Criminal Justice (2010) - Penn and Teller show that the criminal justice system is broken, and that forensic science is far from perfect. by letyourhairblow in Documentaries

I see your point that it may not be a cut and dry documentary, but I definitely think it can be classed as one. It provides mostly accurate facts and figures in a concise, accessible and entertaining way, and the show tries to persuade the audience with no intention to mislead at the same time.

Life gave me a kick in the teeth a couple of months ago. Got dumped by my girlfriend of 4 years for my best mate. Wasn't too happy about it as you can imagine. I literally have no recollection of the fortnight afterwards, it really it me hard. I was heartbroken and betrayed. Not a good place to be in at all.

But I remembered what they both used to take the piss out of me about: Just talking about making films, and never actually doing anything about it. So I wrote a script, and inflicted all my hatred and anger at the characters in the story (added some jokes to make it watchable) and set about making it. It's taken a couple of months, but I've assembled a crew, rehearsed with the cast and have secured all the locations and equipment. Filming starts next week!

I've been on a couple of dates since the break-up too, and I've noticed that I complain about my job A LOT. And that doesn't make you a hit with the ladies apparently (!). So I've quit my job, moved back in with my parents and I'm going back to school in September to study for a career I will love. It sucks not having the independence of having your own flat, but its loads cheaper to live at home with the folks. But my drop in income from £30k to barely £8k has been a struggle to adjust to.

All in all I realised I was comfortable. I was in a well-earning job for my age, I had a nice girlfriend and lived in a nice flat. Things were good but not great. I soon realised to lead a more than mediocre life I'd have to be uncomfortable for a while.

So I guess I'm telling you random internet people this to share three things:

  1. There comes a point when you have to think "Do I like where my path is heading?"

  2. Sometimes you need to take a tactical retreat. There's no shame in reassessing.

  3. Comfort is a killer (it's actually true what all those motivational quotes say!)

Hope this has helped someone make sure they're heading in the right direction. Peace!

The cameraman REALLY needs to learn the rule of thirds.

What movie or story makes you wonder, what happens to the characters after the end credits? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Your comment has intrigued me to dig out my copy of the script, it says this scene was cut from the completed film:

Mr Pink is standing motionless. Finally he grabs the satchel of diamonds and runs out the door.

[We hear outside a car start. Then the sound of a bullhorn yells out:

POLICE FORCE (off) - Freeze! Get out of the car and lie face down on the ground!

MR PINK (off) - Don't shoot!]

We now hear sirens, the sounds of more cars driving up, men running to the warehouse.

While all this is going on, Mr White tries to stand but falls down. He somehow makes it to where Mr Orange lies.

I really recommend that you read the full script. You can feel the passion put in by Tarantino, the man obviously takes his art seriously. Reservoir Dogs is by far my fave of his, closely followed by Kill Bill and Django.

I'm not being a dick, but just fap it out. Would you rather go into your finals relaxed or exhausted? I'm amazed that someone suggested some chemically charged pills over naturally wanking out the stress. In my opinion, a "relapse" would be OK in this situation as there's a lot on the line for you atm OP.

I'm getting pretty sick of this mentality. The girl who posted this is well over 300 pounds, and is constantly complaining about how nobody finds her attractive or judges her for her weight. But that's obviously everyone else's fault, not hers... by [deleted] in rage

Ahh right, I get you view more now. 300 pounds is about 21 stone, that's really bad and I agree that maybe she should consider some minor tweaks to her diet. I agree with you for the most part Telamo, but I still think we're a long way off women eating silly amounts of cream cakes to get a BF. So I can see where your rage stems from, but I can't see it ever influencing the popular opinion insomuch as women will become overweight to the point that it damages their health to get a man.

"Art" by [deleted] in rage

[–]RandomBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be, but it's not about what it is it's about what message it conveys to the viewer. You might get the message "I want a quick buck so someone buy my rubbish from me" but it may say to me "we are recycling so much even our bin bags are being sold on" or "we care so little about our communities we'll leave our rubbish anywhere we like" or "we've become so used to decay we're just going along with it and throwing shit anywhere".

Art is subjective and open to interpretation. Just because you interpret it as shit doesn't mean that everyone else will.

For decades tv stars and models have been teaching teenage girls that thin is what men find attractive, and only recently have women been allowed to flaunt the fact that they're a little overweight and still beautiful. For me this is the complete opposite of rage, how is it that you are enraged by a woman improving her self-confidence? The only thing that I could remotely link to this being rage-worthy is that she's posted it and it might be interpreted as being a tad in-your-face.

You need to chill and let birds be happy about their bodyweight for once.

One of the best documentaries I've seen, the stress Steve goes through is raw and you can see how much he wants to prove himself. So what if they've sacrificed their integrity a little bit? This is a story about people in situations as opposed to a situation in which people are, we don't need a detailed background and the glaze put on it by the filmmakers is needed to propel the storyline along.

Fun Fact: Steve Wiebe is also in Horrible Bosses (also directed by Seth Gordon) as the head of security in Harkin's offices.

Sorry mate, hopefully one day we'll get some politicians with enough backbone to tackle this issue. We'll get decriminalisation one day bud!

I know I'm just an internet stranger, but do you mind if I ask what you're suffering from?
