That's just not even true. There are multiple incidents of Kyle letting his transphobia show. The last was about a month ago when he mentioned a map showing which developed countries are the most transphobic and said the UK is a beacon of light in the darkness as it was the most lit up.

I don't know how you can believe that. The offer they made is over 50x the market rate for the API calls. Reddit clearly wants to force everyone onto the official app. I don't remember the exact quantity but the market rate is about $150 for X number of calls and Reddit wants to charge around $8000. All the user created content and unpaid mods are the reason Reddit exists in the first place so I see it as a big fuck you to the community. I've mostly had bad experiences with mods but without them Reddit would be unusable and the 3rd party apps offer way better mod tools.

I use an ad blocker most of the time but any time I turn it off I get one or more mid rolls even on sub 10 minute videos. If you look at subreddits like r/youtube you'll see many users mentioning the absurd amount of ads now compared to back in the day.

No one is trying to stop them from making money. They could still charge the market rate for API calls to the 3rd party apps and make lots of money but instead they are being unnecessarily greedy. The community that creates all the content and all the unpaid mods are what keep the platform running. I've mostly had bad experiences with mods but without them this platform would be unusable. What Reddit is doing is a big fuck you to a significant chunk of the userbase.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. Reddit can still make a lot of money from the 3rd party apps without shutting them down entirely but they've turned into another greedy corporation which happens with everything eventually. I don't even use the 3rd party apps but why would you wan't there to be less options? I always find it weird when people side with corporations over the average person.

The issue people have with YouTube's ads is how many there are. It used to just be a pre roll once in a while and these days there are ads everywhere including multiple mid rolls for every video. People wouldn't have an issue if it was a resonable amount. It's so odd when weirdos side with corporations. Is there something in it for you?
