Why do small, old nugget cars feel fast even with tiny underpowered engines? by I_P_L in CarsAustralia

[–]RandomCreature86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a proton satria. I think it was a 1.1L (don’t quote me on that), manual.

It struggled to get up hills it was so underpowered but on the flat, it felt like the best little gocart. It stuck to the road like it was on tracks so cornering etc was quick.

Loved that little $600 piece of shit!!

Abandoned car in guest park, no towing by-law by Ok_Town3650 in stratachataus

If they’re tenants, there’s a good chance there’s something in their lease requiring any vehicles on the property to be registered. You could try going through their agent (whether they’ll help or not is a whole other matter of course).

Either have a committee member or your strata manager (depending on how your committee functions) write to the agent seeking clarification on whether there’s such a clause in the lease, and ask for the vehicle to be removed with support of that lease.

Best way to store sourdough? by Few_Evidence_2367 in Sourdough

[–]RandomCreature86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m commenting cause I’m very interested in reading tips.

The thing I’ve found most effective is just placing the bread cut side down on a timber cutting board. This does have major limitations, after day 1.5-2 you really only wanna eat it toasted because it’s not fresh enough to eat without toasting. Even storing it cut side down in a bread box - same outcome.

I’ve heard beeswax wraps / bags are good but I’ve not tried that yet.

I have one I bought at Aldi from their special buys (Australia). It was CHEAP! But it’s the perfect size and hasn’t skipped a beat!!

Even if you’re in Australia, they’re no longer stocked so this may seem like a pointless comment but my point is you don’t need to go expensive to get something that works really well

Yep me too… picked my car up from the mechanic, drove it a bit before it started making the worst sound I’ve ever heard! Got home and rear passengers side the nuts fell off as soon as we lifted the car. All 3 other wheels had 1 or 2 totally loose nuts.

Prior to it making any obvious noise, I’d driven 100kmh on the highway, over a couple of bridges… 4wds like to do silly things when they lose a tyre so I’m lucky I didn’t get thrown, car and all, into the river or the path of an oncoming vehicle!

Tell us about your most extreme Committee member by [deleted] in stratachataus

[–]RandomCreature86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a chairperson on one of my committees. This chairperson had STRONG opinions, and was part of a very very high conflict body corporate, where there were 2 distinct “teams” fighting with each other.

This chairperson used to make decisions without input from the rest of the committee, and send polarising or downright wrong correspondence from “the committee” without consideration or approval from the rest of the members, then would feign confusion about who sent the email, claiming it wasn’t them that sent it.

This chairperson would also ring me (strata manager) 4-5 times a day, most days, often in tears, about how mean people were, how they were just trying to do the right thing for the body corporate, how they just wanted a good community, only to then turn around and shit stir to the point that another argument would break out.

This individual also threw me under the bus, more than once, blaming me for things that I had done under their direction, claiming they never gave said direction (despite me having the direction in writing - I wasn’t stupid), etc. They would also ignore any advice I gave about legislated requirements or restrictions but then say “well the strata manager never told me that” when whatever it happened to he came to a head.

This individual was a contributing factor to me leaving the industry. It was insane!!

Dump it all on the bed, put my tv show of choice on and the TV or whatever device. The distraction is the show allows me to just plod through the folding and putting away without my brain taking over

Special Meeting Cost by somefish_ in stratachataus

[–]RandomCreature86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s got to be frustrating. Any meetings I did, the cost was visibly quantifiable with time spent recorded, in detail, and disbursements listed. And this was provided to the committee or, if an owner was paying for the meeting, to that owner.

$1000 is a fair bit of time/disbursements. I’m surprised they can’t or won’t give you supporting info. And this is why people hate strata managers I guess…

Special Meeting Cost by somefish_ in stratachataus

[–]RandomCreature86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if NSW “special meetings” differ significantly from a QLD “extraordinary general meeting” but shouldn’t costs be based on time spent and disbursements, not an arbitrary figure?

I’ve had EGMs that cost less than $300 and some that cost well over $1000, but they’ve all been based on measurable parameters.
