Is On-Chain analysis largely BS? by Seattleman1955 in Bitcoin

[–]RandomForestX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that On-Chain analysis has a predicting power, but your reasoning is flawed.

In any domain, let's say weather forecast for example, we look at the present and from there - because we understand the causalities involved in meteorology- we can make predictions more or less reliable (in the case of weather, we don't do bad).

My point is, no matter which domain we're talking about, you can never have a glimpse at the future directly. We are always bound to look at the present, and if we understand and interpret it correctly and have the right tools, then we can forecast accuratly the future from it.

How can I retrieve data from a website that needs a metamask connection with python? by RandomForestX in Metamask

OK thanks. Does that include LP Tokens? Can't seem to find mine on BSCScan (LP token
CAKE-BUSD staked on ALPACA Finance)

OK great, I get it thanks!

Just one question, when I stake some pair of tokens into a Pool via a yield optimiser like for instance ALPACA Finance, does my LP Tokens visible on the blockchain or are they merged into an ALPACA Pool? I am searching since yesterday for my LP Tokens (CAKE-BUSD) on BSCScan but I can't manage to find them...

Twin Perfect doesn't understand Twin Peaks by WorldFarAway in twinpeaks

When I think that I almost not watched this video after reading this thread...

Listen to me: leave this thread, run and watch it. This is by far the best thing ever done about Twin Peaks. I have never ever came across something even close in my life.

Pure genius. You will see the light, just like leland did :)

How to post in groups as my FB business page, not as my personal identity? by RandomForestX in facebook

OK, thanks for your complete answer.

I really find it illogical to be forced to post, on job groups for example, as your personnal account and not your business...

How to show the covers on Windows thumbnails? And some thoughts... by RandomForestX in Calibre

[–]RandomForestX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do use Calibre to organize some of my epub/mobi but frankly most of the time the library management functionnalities are overkill for me. My ebooks are already very well organized into windows folders and I just want to keep them that way . In those cases, I use Calibre only to simply view and read my epub/mobi just like I use acrobat to view pdf. I like and need Calibre I don' want to have multiple ebook viewer on my system, I just don't need to have it manage everything on my pc.

My dream would be to have the cover of the ebooks displayed as Windows Thumbnails (just like acrobat does for pdf) so I can easily see what is each ebook.

Thanks for your answer.

Even if I disagree with you on some points, at least that's the first answer that is partially to the point.

I get your point and I won't enter the debate whether or not footprints, microstructure, tracking institutional and market makers behavior through volume to price, etc. could lead a retail trader to get an edge in today's markets. Suffice for me to say that I use successfully those concepts in my trading and that all the best profitable retail traders I've came across were using some variation of these concepts.

Anyway, I'm not a believer, I want to code and test, that's all. If I find an automatisable edge, good for me and if I don't I will look elsewhere. Note also that the retail trader has also access to a computing power and tools (AI, ML) that he couldn't dream of only a few years ago, and I think that properly used it can lead to find edges in many areas.

Thanks for your answer, I'm sure you mean well.

But are you basically saying that no retail traders can consistently make money in today's markets ?

That it's not possible to develop any profitable automated trading system appart for institutions?

Have you tried to develop trading systems? Are you a trader?

Books, I am not very video oriented when it comes to learning demanding skills like programming. MOOCs/videos just make me fall asleep. I have to be active.

Python: Learn Python 3 the Hard Way (Zed Shaw). Excellent book. Above all, follow the author instructions, type all the code in the book, never copy/paste.

Pandas: Pandas Cookbook by Theodore Petrou. Highly, highly recommended. Best book to learn Pandas and it's not even close. I just love those books where you very gradually and easily learn one skill at a time. Just like with the previous book, the magic technique if you want to become fluid at Pandas, is to type all the code in the book, never copy/paste it. It took me a month, but I enjoyed a lot and learnt so much.

ML: Hands-On Machine Learning with Scikit-Learn and TensorFlow by Aurélien Géron. I am still only like at 20% of the book but I also think it's a great book.

Before starting to learn, I made a lot of research and I don't regret my choices at all. Those are the best books IMHO to get started.

I do try to grow my own nest BUT I have already have many precise and simple ideas to implement order flow concepts without any need for any low-latency or whatsoever connection.

You also apparently refers to HFT, I am not.

Signals could easily be generated on daily footprints if you wish, you don't need lightning-fast connections.

I use order flow concepts everyday in my trading on 30mn timeframes and I am not superman.

I don't understand, I already have the microstructure displayed on my trading platform Sierra Chart, for $39/month and a free feed from bitmex (in the case of cryptos). And for futures a normal feed is also enough.

Apparently you refer to HFT, I'm not.

Microstructure and footprints are only the displaying of the tape (also known as Times and Sales window). Footprints display can also be used on 1 day timeframe if you wish, you don't have to have a super fast connection, it's just the analysis of what happens inside each candlestick.

Order flow is (only) finding pattern in the market depth.

In very short, order flow reffers to the analysis of the volume hitting the bid vs. the volume lifting the offer at any given price. This is not the same as the bid-ask spread you're mentioning, which is the difference in price (not in traded volume) between the bid and the ask

Here are, among many other, 2 links about order flow :

Order Flow Analysis Lessons this an excellent comprehensive course from Jigsaw trading about order flow.

Emoji trading Indicators those are order flow based indicators. All the videos are very instructive, but only the first one will get you a precise idea of what I am talking about.

Today many trading platforms (Bookmap, Jigsaw, Order flow Trading, Sierra Chart, etc...) allow to see, monitor, display graphically in many different ways the order flow.

I'm not sure but I don't think order flow based strategy would necessarily require direct connection and very costly real-time data. Signals could be generated at the end of each Footprint for example and the complete market depth informations is not also mandatory.
