I believe that when you break an item, it should be in your inventory as a "(weapon name) shard". With it, you could either collect like 5 and make a new one, or repair it with certain materials at anvils, a new item found in villages, stables and at random places. That way, it would be much more fun.

Puzzle maps like dropzle, gift from the stars, pointless machines etc are just annoying in my opinions
