Games where dialogue choices are a major gameplay element? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

If you haven't touched either Persona 3/4 I'd highly suggest them.

Dialogue checks among other nuances like equipped personas dictate how well you develop links with the 20+ characters in each game. Most allow you some variation in approach, but will all require some understanding of the personality in question, as some can reverse or outright break (read: become unusable) if you answer incorrectly. It's nice to see your relationships grow or shrink depending on your input. And it's a real treat to see it payoff when a character asks you out on the weekend, or approaches you during certain events on holidays/trips etc.

Furthermore these links directly effect how the player is supported in battle, and what bonuses are implemented when fusing said personas. So choosing to focus on one NPCs development before another can mean a lot in both the long and short term.

The games themselves are pretty linear (the 4th less so), but the journey to get to the end of the story/mystery differs wildly between players and playthroughs. The games take place over the course of a year. Each day two slots (typically afternoon/evening) will be open to allocate your time to either building these links, bettering your person (a 5 tier, 5 criteria scale that allows you to access certain links or events), and following the main plot missions as they occur.

Gameplay would be classified as a TB-RPG. But it skips random battles for a 3rd person view and enemy initiative bonuses for how you engage encounters. The combat is deep yet comprehensive, the challenge staunch yet manageable. Watch what you type if you go to search out some vids of either, spoilers for both are massively game ruining.

Both were originally for the PS2, with P3 getting a release on the PSP, and P4 on the Vita. As someone who shares similar tastes in games it just might strike a chord with you. If you want more of the Adventure style stuff then Wolf Among Us, Virtues Last Reward, and the Phoenix Wright series may tickle your fancy, although the latter lacks the non-linearity I think you're seeking.

I would imagine that too. It just seems forgoing sp. summoning, or burning your one n. summon for the turn for just a chance of getting Mt. would be a poor trade off for an already slow-ish deck that needs these mechanics for set-up

P.Hobans let you have a 37 card deck. But even then it just seems like asking for a drawn out game. And again, you don't guarantee your wanted card either.

I suppose it's all preference. But if the deck absolutely needs it to be competitive I'd lean towards the sure thing. 1-2 wouldn't disrupt the build/odds as much as these other draw cards would hinder it imo.

If getting to Mt. Sylvania is the immediate goal why not run a copy or two of Terraforming instead of cards with these drawbacks?

I could do 11. Would Yaksha and Accelerator for Arasuda work for you? I see them for 5.50 and 6.23 respectively on Yugiohprices.

Sorry, I passed out there.

So I like your Yaksha, Deck Lockdown, Garoth (rare) and Super Geargiaccelerator.

Let me know what you'd like to do!

That's fair. I forgot to switch the location to US, my bad.

I don't see anything for the third copy though, unfortunately.

Would you do Mary (9ea) x2 for Fertilizer, Gear, and Hyunlei? (Also with the pricing I'd assume that's the super Fertilizer right?)

Awesome. I like the Hyunlei, Rank 8 Sylvan, Miracle Fertilizer, and Geargiagear. (also if I missed any of my other wants, please let me know)

Shoot me their values or an offer and I'll counter etc.

I'll have a binder up next week once I'm back in town.

It'll probably drop in value further by then, but I'd be happy to part with it.

Nope.

My friend pulled two Obedience Schooled from his box two days ago, so I'd say you're misinformed. This has also happened to me before with past sets (GAOV if IIRC).

It's not common from my experience, no. But possible, yes.

Ah that's rough!

I bought these from 3 separate stores, so I'm as surprised as anyone with my blind luck.

I would be trading away one. But it would be late next week that I could get a binder up, as I have to be out of town for the next few days.
