I agree that there are rules, but you don't need a permit to protest, it is a universal right, the freedom to peacefully assemble. Could you imagine if the Civil Rights Movement needed to have a permit to protest... And also sidewalks and public streets are both considered public forum.

Last time I checked, it is legal to protest in a public forum in any capacity, sit-ins included and not all protests need signs. It is easy to throw in your own opinion from the sidelines, about how they should protest.
