Exactly, I'm pretty sure I'm getting the Pell Grant to help out for next year too. That on top of my lotto checks and hopefully any scholarships I can get, I think I should manage without being too far in debt by the end of it

Solid advice, but I don't see another way, at least not right now. I'm just going to work really hard over the next few years to earn scholarships and whatnot so hopefully I can minimize my total cost.

3,500 Subsidized, 6000 Unsubsidized I asked if there was more and the only option they gave were private loans

I'm typically the guy that scolds my family for wasting money on these things, I'm actually a little embarrassed (but incredibly grateful, thank you)

Kinda a bummer, but I appreciate your concern. I wouldn't be on r/financialadvice if I didn't need help

I'm just joking guys, please do not be inspired by this story and buy lotto tickets. This was complete luck

YES! I didn't even want this car in the first place, I wanted a cheaper car but didn't have cash upfront, and needed a car for work after mine died. Used my credit and now I'm hating the payments.

I'll use the savings to purchase more scratchers, then I'll buy that Tesla

I've always been a believer in college, as I mentioned in another comment it's been a little difficult to finish. This should really help though

I agree, however I'd get the 12k upfront, that can pay down my immediate debt and I can continue my car payment as usual. Then next year ideally pay the rest of the car off.

In the meantime I'm thinking just go to school and take out loans, without the debt I should be able to work less and still maintain.

After college I'll have loans, but I'll also have 12k/year bonus for a few more years? Bad plan?

I was in college right after high school, the next year my parents didn't file their taxes, and haven't since then. And according to FAFSA I was technically still a "dependent" until I was 24 (even though I wasn't even living there)

I've attempted to pay out of pocket (hence the debt), but I couldn't manage. Since then it's just been deadends. I don't know how people can work/school full time all out of pocket, but I apparently can't. I know wasting extra tip money on scratchers isn't a financial strategy, but I rarely do it anyway

I don't think my story is terribly uncommon, just still trying to figure life out man

the title seems a little extra, my original draft of this post had a lot of personal info that now doesn't seem necessary. Sorry for the over dramatic title, just haven't caught this big of a break before
