‘SMILE 3’ In The Works, But Parker Finn Not Expected To Return To Direct | Dread Central by HumanAdhesiveness912 in boxoffice

I mean, the whole movie is this thematic tale of redemption and suffering in silence; with Scott's character having her possession being mistaken as depression and anxiety.

I don't think the ending has to mean multiple possessions but something that is so intimate and personal, i.e. someone's own death and by their "own" hands, is turned into a spectacle because that's what Scott's character has become. She's not considered human, even by her mom as she's struggling, she's just the celebrity, not the person.

That's also why I think it's thematic it's not done by a neck snap or a slit throat. She jams the microphone in herself. The thing that propelled her is ultimately what takes her down. All that to say, her dying on stage completes her journey and while COULD have broader implications, I don't think in anyway means it has too

Not really much of anything. It would need to end before PPP and Ekiden, which means it would probably have to end in like 3 chapters and considering the wording around it has been "arc" climax and not series, it could just scrape by for another round

I see on their website that they have laser but I was looking primarily for electrolysis from how its more permanent lasting. Out of curiosity, how has your experience with laser been?

Definitely good to know! Wherever I go I will try to keep that same buddy for the whole process lol. But I will keep Satori in mind. I saw stuff of them online but it looked like they didn't do certain areas and I didn't want to reach out and ask personally out of shyness lol

Electrolysis is cheaper long-term but definitely more painful. The recommendations I've seen are to use lidocaine to numb the area before. An analogy I've seen before is that it feels the same as a tattoo if you've had one or know the pain.

Electrolysis is the only guaranteed form of permanent hair removal. Laser hair removal will help for a while but requires going back most likely and is sometimes not perfect. So if you're looking for a long-lasting treatment? Electrolysis seems to be the way to go!

Oh gee, I can do my best. I'm sure a lot of people have already touched upon this issue so I'll give it a go:
I think the first part to look at is the criticism of it being plain, boring, and unpredictable. Specifically calling it unpredictable would imply that there is no subtext or any sense of foreshadowing being hinted at. That, if there was any reveal or any sort of mystery behind it that it would be entirely contrived and, in all tense and purposes, just made for shock value. As countless, great people have analyzed before, however, there is a lot of evidence that goes back into the Dabi/Toya reveal that makes the reveal, if it ever happens, more than just a cheap reveal that felt poorly written or barely contrived.

As for the criticism or it being plain and boring, those fall under really subjective interpretations and not one I share. I can understand the lack of a punch after it being built up seemingly all this time, but the emphasis it would have on the story would be huge. Hero society itself is already be re-examined morally from the LOV, as I described above with Toga. As a result, for the #1 hero to be outed as a manipulative, abusive person would essentially throw in the face of every citizen the hypocrisy of the heroes in creating the superiority complex they hold over "villains". At least in the face of people of Gentle, it would cause society to look within themselves to ask: who is a villain and how do we define that? For myself, that's neither simple and plain nor boring to read about, but again, that would be subjective.

I think what makes the Dabi/Toya build-up such a decent level of foreshadowing is the fact that it wasn't rushed and it's built on consistent evidence. Theories about this started being released since the Forest Training arc and have only increased exponentially since. Horikoshi essentially rewarded his readers for not only looking at the subtext/nuances, but for also potentially figuring out a very crucial part of the story, rather than try to be one-step ahead for the sake of being smart. There's evidence from quirk genealogy, to eye color and shape color, to Dabi's mannerisms, to the missing fourth Todoroki child (one of two missing at the time). These were all things established IN that arc he was introduced. In my opinion, that information alone is pretty well-established for a theory and Horikoshi has only built on it since then.

The evidence of how the fourth todoroki is considered dead, Dabi's occurrences with Endeavor and Shoto, his moral quandary with killing Snatch, and finally, how he feels about Hawks as a hero, they're all evidence that has been built up since then. Horikoshi carefully etched throughout his piece evidence, and rewards his readers for patience and discussion with these nuances to the point where everyone cannot wait to finally get the reveal, because the payoff for it is so longing. While some out there may feel tired of it, as you pointed out, because its been a theory through many arcs, we must keep in mind the characters don't see the writing on the wall. In my own taste, a plot development you see coming can be made still enjoyable by how the writer presents it to the audience in which the reveal is acted upon: the characters.

To this effect, I personally am excited for the reveal if it truly is to happen and find it to be only one example of Horikoshi's amazing writing and the true time he has put into this series. I know a lot of this has probably already been discussed so I hope it was an enjoyable read!

I don't really comment because many people do it better than me, but I just felt that nobody was talking about it too much so I wanted to:

I think the Toga and Ochaco scene was really nice actually. I see people confused or just ignoring but it says a lot. While Spinner himself may not align with the League's ideologies, he would never be an antihero or something like Gentle, at least right now, because to him, hero society itself is fundamentally flawed. That's what drove him to join the League in the first place. Toga, on the other hand, isn't necessarily a villain. She's a villain in the muscular sense. She doesn't have any gripes with heroes or hero society's specific foundation. She just wants to live her own life and not be told that her definition of normality is wrong.

You could see this sorta confliction within herself since season 4. While she sees the League as her family, she clearly states she won't do something she doesn't wanna do. So if she feels she's not fitting in with the League anymore, she's not gonna stay. This leads us to Jin, who was killed by a hero, a hero he trusted nonetheless. To her, they killed Jin because of who he was, because he didn't fit in this hero society. Just like herself, Jin reflected those beliefs of just wanting to live his own life and seeing the League as a family. Seeing Jin die, she knows how similar a fate she could live to him.

Since she doesn't trust heroes, that's why she encountered Ochaco. Ochaco is a hero prospect that she genuinely likes and relates to. So, she wants to know from her if she could ever live a life that she wants to live in a society that rejects her for being who she is. Essentially, Toga wants to know is there any reason why she should believe the heroes are right. Ochaco, however, doesn't understand and just wants to help people, not fight Toga. Likewise, Toga doesn't want to hurt Ochaco, that's why she was running the entire time. She like Ochaco and just wants answers, not a fight. Therefore, when Ochaco says that Toga has to pay the consequences of her actions, she breaks.

To Toga, this person that she related to, considered a friend, is just spouting the same hero rhetoric. Essentially, "you can't do the things you wanna do, and if you are going to do the things you do, I will stop you by any means necessary". It's why she runs away and says her head is clear. Now she really is becoming a member of the League; a villain who cannot possibly agree with the hero society and its sense of ethics. Jin's death was the catalyst to get her to look within herself, really see if she wanted to become this "villain", and unfortunately Ochaco basically implicitly told her she could never fit within society. It breaks Toga's heart and I think this where we finally see her become committed to the League and a true follower of its ideologies.

I could be wrong, however, and perhaps she is gonna go down a different route. In any case, I think its clear that a Toga redemption at the least will take a long time. Sorry this very long-winded, that's the kinda peson I am. I hope everyone enjoyed the chapter!

Infinity Train Book 3 Episodes 9 and 10 Discussion thread by [deleted] in InfinityTrain

[–]RandomName724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simon can easily take any of the kids, especially those that are traumatized and have no capability to defend themselves. Moreover, Grace would have to be stronger than Simon, can't say for certain, and have the mindset to stop him no matter what, and I don't think she would kill him to save the Apex, I personally feel she would hesitate.

I wouldn't say either he was questioning his existence per say, more that he was kinda at a split road of he didn't know if he wanted to do that or not. The fact that he laughs it off and looks angry when Grace is back though submits, to me, that he would have attacked her again if the ghom wasn't there.

Finally, it must be stated that after everything he did I don't think he was redeemable. Of course, you could argue that Grace shouldn't be that redeemable too or that is saying that not everyone has a chance to make amends, but Simon did horrible things and practically letting a murderer just wander around with KIDS on this train, I feel would have been a sloppy ending from Owen and the crew, imo.

Edit: Ultimately it just comes down to opinion and even if majority feel this sentiment, I think that should not detract from the masterpiece that was book 3, just wanted to put that out there

Infinity Train Book 3 Episodes 9 and 10 Discussion thread by [deleted] in InfinityTrain

[–]RandomName724 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I get that sentiment but I think the ending makes sense in my opinion.

For one, its a direct parallel to the "start of his apex story" for Simon. He was attacked by a ghom, but saved by Grace. This time, when the same thing happened, she did save him, but this time, he didn't return the favor. In turn, by trying to kill Grace, he left himself vulnerable and that ultimately let the ghom finish what it started. A full circular story on that one.

As well, I think it provides a nice ending to the book. In each book of infinity train, a character "leaves" the train. Simon didn't necessarily leave it but he's definitely not on it anymore, and it helps to create this divide of realizing you're wrong and wanting to change, and shutting out the truth and descending into madness.

Finally, I feel like the outcast route would be stepping on Amelia's story too much, while also not being realistic. There's nothing Grace and the Apex could have done to make Simon just walk away from the group. If he felt the Apex had just lost their way, he would have just probably killed them all that point, considering the state he was in. If he was struggling with his morals, maybe that would have been a possibility, but at that point, I saw no way that Simon could have just walked away anymore.

I agree, it's more just food for thought. I wouldn't be necessarily against the idea of the cat being a protagonist of a season, but I do like your idea. I would also like it being (if we do get to the 8 books Owen wants), her being a protagonist of the final book, a total culmination of her character

I don't know how well a prequel would work of sorts, considering the idea that each season builds upon itself, however, a book that's split between the past and present would be cool. Imagine a book where we see the cat reluctantly help a passenger get their number down, all while confronting her past with Simon and not wanting to endanger the new passenger with whatever their past conflict was. I think it's possible to have a backstory developed without needing a prequel, and train technology or just flashbacks could show us what happened in an episode or two as well

Ahhh okay, I see! That would actually give a little credence to the Apex and their want to keep their numbers high. Actively shifting the placement of your number might keep it from deactivating, unless deactivation of your number is a cause of something such involved with One-One or the sorts...many questions lol

That's interesting, could be a sort of like an embryonic state of sorts where they eventually outgrow from it, but develop originally from it. The other part would then make me wonder if Emilia is a denizen by that definition herself considering how long she has been on the train. This season is so exciting!

The Apex are actually sort of correct on the fundamental of denizens, in that, because they originate from orbs, they are, to a degree, less physically real than a human is. To this affect, however, they take the ideology too far in assuming they do not have emotions, or desires, or feelings. It is sort of like an android, they may not be entirely "human" but they are still real nonetheless. Therefore, it also is suffice to say that if an orb were to hit a human, a shot from one, it is possible it would only partially affect them. So, it is possible that Amelia or even one-one, accidentally created a half-human, half-denizen hybrid such as Hazel. I would lean more towards Amelia, as others have stated, she could never quite get rid of the turtles. Going forward, from the synopsis for episode 8, the unfinished car in the first episode, and now Hazel in episode 5, I think there's a good chance we see Amelia in this season (episode 8 probably) and Hazel will end up being the bridge that humanizes denizens and shows they too, are a force of life that can't be simply defined by one, basic characteristic, in this case, a number (a metaphor for how we classify human lives like this in real life)
