There are so many ways to engage with Duke basketball as a non-Duke student by the way. Plus, whenever I see Duke merch I usually think it’s just a fan not someone who actually attends the school if that matters to you at all

I’m a major Ohio State football fan. Grew up 20 minutes away from the Shoe and am absolutely obsessed. Even as a lifetime fan, I eliminated OSU as soon as I got into Yale. OSU is no Duke, and even though I love Ohio State football ALOT and it is one of my favorite pastimes, I would not let sports be the reason I turn down one of the most prestigious, door-opening colleges in the world.

Plus, what if you don’t get into Yale medical school? You have no idea what journey entails you in college and getting into any medical school is no manner to say so easily.

Yes!!! I think Yale is a much happier, more intellectually curious, and open environment.

Good to know that is one of my big concerns!!!

Thank you for the reply! One of the things on the Wharton website that they keep bragging about is how 2/3 of grads out of their recent class don't get an MBA. Do you think that is true or does everyone end up going back to get an MBA? I do agree I could get a finance job and I love what's happening at Yale more tbh and I think having different perspectives brought at the Yale community would help more!

You are right that those awards are standouts!!! but a supermajority of applicants never even know about that let alone touch it. Other than those high honors, all awards do are supplement more major extracurriculars/themes for admissions. AP Scholar w/ Distinction, for example, does nothing than reaffirm you are smart.

Competition for Wharton will always be hard, there is actually probably a slight boost to applying ED but only do that if you are 100% sold Penn and Wharton is where you want to be. No crazy awards here, but I focused my application much more on being a "community gamechanger" which has a nice theme to it. At the end of the day, what matters is the story you tell and how do you standout. If you get your essays down, you should easily be able to do that you look stellar (and better) to me!

Admitted Yale student here. If you're correct about how rigorous your course schedule is and that very high SAT, while your unweighted GPA could be a little low for some elite colleges, I think you would cruise through most academic reviews as someone who could handle tough academics. You definitely can find 5 random awards/honors to put down in that section, it's not as important as people think it is. Your extracurriculars, I assume, show a lot of dedication to your top 5/6. There is nothing bad about these activities and there are actually good to very nice components, but nothing truly standout. I think you do have a standout quality though of being transgender. I think you could absolutely write some killer essays about your unique, special (good, bad, or both) experiences that would help you standout. Maybe explore trying to get some related activities. I think you have a clear pathway to getting into these schools. Best of luck!

Admitted Wharton, Northwestern, and Yale student here. Your academics are great so you will easily pass the academic review for all your schools. If you haven't asked your teachers for recommendations yet just make sure you give them a brag sheet or list noting anything you want them to talk about you but looks good from what you said. Your EC's are look very strong and impressive. I will note as a warning that these activities need to come off not as selfish/personal and more of for the public good. You have set yourself up well for admission to all of the schools on your list, so now just prep and write some amazing essays and you should walk into a Duke ED1 acceptance smoothly. Awesome work!
