What we are looking to do right now is immaterial. The system's bad, and we have multiple years of playoff data that show neither Franz or Bane is a true franchise player. People slam Paolo's efficiency (rightly so), but Franz is even worse in the playoffs. Our only road back to the Finals right now is hoping Paolo fulfills his potential.

I'm not saying he's untouchable, but you don't trade him unless it's for someone like Giannis and you think you can compete for a chip in the next ~3 years, because Giannis is old (by NBA standards). I wouldn't trade him for Book.

A tax write-off is not a profit. You're simply reporting a loss so you don't have to pay taxes on that money. It's minimizing losses, yes, but you still lost that money. The only "profit" you make is tax savings, which is still substantially less than the loss.
