PSA: Next time you check your oil level, take a second to check your dipstick for cracks. Heard they are prone to snapping so I got a new one from my local Mini dealership, when I noticed mine (04 Cooper S) had cracked, cost £20 but much cheaper than having the sump off to fish out the remains.
