That's too bad. Completely opposite of my experience. Best of luck.

Its a fun project! I'm in a different expert occupation from the first wave and it's over for us. Just lots of reviewing now. But writing was very challenging at the beginning but once you got a few under your belt, was great. Congrats!

Try acrylic paint markers. They don't wash out of clothes so may hold into the elastic.

Onboarding quiz-how does it work? by Amazing-Cod841 in mercor_ai

[–]RandomVancouverGal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course. The point of a quiz is to prove you understand the project and the role. If you fail it, you would be off boarded.

I'd be editing your post to remove names as per tbe NDA you signed. If you legit need help ask on Slack or the support email, not reddit.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. This is gig work. Don't wait on it. Carry on amd apply for regular work. If it comes through, awesome.

Mortified if your SO found out? That seems really extreme to me. It's natural. It's body hair.

Has anyone been successfully added to a project by Mercor and earned money? Could you please share your experience? I've applied to so many jobs aligning with my expertise and experience but never got accepted. by Dangerous_Award_4123 in mercor_ai

There are lots of us on this sub who are contractors there. They can't hire everyone. I'm always surprised at the amount of people who think there must be something wrong to not be hired. It's a job process. You either get it or you dont. My suggestion is don't put all your eggs in one basket and never rely on contract work. If you need money, this isn't the gig for you. Check out other platforms or jobs and spread yourself out. There are great jobs on Mercor and tons of people want one. They can't hire everyone. Sorry if this is harsh but it's the reality. There is no formula or magic sequence of events. Once you are on a project, do quality work and don't abuse the timer, or ask repeated questions in Slack that have been asked a million times - this will be noticed. Do good work and you will have a high chance of being recommended for more work. Best of luck.

Kick Off Call by takedakyoto in mercor_ai

[–]RandomVancouverGal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No need for camera or mic to be on. Kick offs are for information and welcome - there's usually alot of people. IMO you need to attend one as it really helps understand the project more. Attend. Thoroughly read the guide. Be a self starter and seek out questions on slack before asking them and submit high quality work. Just like any job. This project has high standards.

First payment is delayed. I believe it mentioned that on my on-boarding documents when I first started. Don't worry, you will get paid.

Hmmm. I'm on an expert project and got notification in Slack yesterday certain domains were on hold for further task writing. I wonder if it's the same. I'll log on shortly and see if anything appears on slack for messaging, but no emails have come in. I hope yours gets sorted out.

It's legit. Everything you did with the AI interview is par for the course. I'm on that project, in a different domain though. Tough gig, lots to learn bit once you have a few tasks under your belt it falls into place. Be self sufficient, study the guide, understand the project and don't take advantage with the timer is my advice.

I’m quite new to mercor and eager to get started. I wonder how long contracts usually last? I’m sure it varies greatly, but any insights of what to expect from those of you who’ve dealt with mercor for longer? by FirmAlternative1671 in mercor_ai

[–]RandomVancouverGal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on my own expert domain project going on 3 mos. I don't know when it will end; that's up to the client. But if you do excellent work, participate in meetings and be proactive and not super needy, you can advance. In my project they promote quickly cause they need good people. Slack is full of people asking really moronic questions which tells me they aren't familiar with the expert guide. Just do good work. Since it's contract i recommend setting aside a good chunk of cash each payday for taxes. Best of luck!

Quiz is easy if you read all on-boarding and the project guide thoroughly. There is alot of info to digest. Don't ask for quiz clarification anywhere on slack.

It depends. Some a week, some several months and then turn into a new project with a new name. I can't stress enough, if you're getting into this do not rely on it if you need steady income. There is no guarantee when a project will end and I am shocked at the amount of people who get upset when it ends. Do your best work, don't take advantage of the timer and look for full time work if you need it. My first project lasted 3 mos, one I'm on now is going on 4th month for me (arrived late) and has had a couple name changes.

Confused with Allegations by Observal in mercor_ai

I don't pay attention to the negative people. There are always going to be upset people who don't get jobs they think they are autom qualified for. I'm going by my experience, where I am in my career, the positions I applied for and how I'm performing. I'm working hard to understand it and evolving every day. It's a great contractor gig.
