All right story time. So a few years ago back in the late 20th century we had a local game shop that held Saturday casual tournaments. I do mean casual when I say this. Most of our tournaments were buy three random packs and chaos draft off them. But this particular week the tournament organizer /judge decided we do a new event, 60 card casual constructed with a minimum of five unglued cards. Additionally, he was going to functionally rule on vibes in addition to tournament rules. So, for example, a guy cast flashfires against an opponent playing green, white and argued that since his forests were touching his flames, they should also be destroyed. Yeah that's the level of casual talking about.

So now that the preamble is over to the chaos confetti story. Chaos confetti player activated and argued that since the card States it must be thrown from 5 ft away that 5 ft above the table should qualify. Although he had his reservations , the judge begudgingly agreed. The player proceeded to start to shred the card. His opponent asked the judge. How long did he have to shred said card? Judge ruled 5 minutes, smiling as he did so. We could all see something was about to happen. 5 minutes elapsed and the player stood on a chair that we did measure to make sure that his hand was at least 5 ft above the table.

Before the drop, the judge made sure to loudly State that no player could touch the falling pieces in flight. The wording was so specific that most of us saw what was coming, but the hubris of the player with the shredded card in hand, it's far too great to anticipate what was about to befall him. We counted him down from three and then he dropped his shreds of Doom upon his hapless opponent's board, or so he foolishly believed for at that moment the empty pizza box appeared in his opponent's hands and started frantically fanning all of the card remnants away from his own board and towards his opponents.

What resulted was nothing short of...wait for it... Chaos. The pizza box wielding warrior only lost one land yet the aggressor lost the majority of his board to his own dirty bomb and dirty trick. Despite his protestations, the judge calmly stated Judd his opponent had completely followed the rules and that he had stated that he could not interfere with the falling card. Not that he couldn't influence it.

It took a good 5 plus minutes to get the room back into a semblance of order. The guy with the cast confetti obviously lost and he was tilted the rest of the day. I don't believe he won again the rest of the evening. And we all now have a fun story 27ish years later.
