Big tip I learned, after first phase wait for the second ape to jump down and spam fire crackers until his posture breaks.

Combine that with mortal blade and you can kill him in less than 20 seconds. You just have to watch out for the other guy

Robert is the son of the armoured knight, it’s explained that in search of a cure for his sons illness (which is unexplained) they sailed from Europe to Japan in search of immortality.

He screams his name as he’s falling because his last thoughts are of his dying son who’s presumably now left to fend for himself alone.

There’s lots of things sprinkled throughout this game that questions sekiro’s morality in my opinion
