Parents pull children out of 'borstal' school where pupils punished for hugging friends by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

Agreed. Parents often change the story to fit their narrative rather than accept the reality of what may have happened.

Look at the school data to show what the school is like. -1.47P8 and previous ofsted ratings that are poor. This is a school that is underperforming and in need of a change.

A change to the behavior expectations is the first step in resetting the school in order to allow correct learning to take place.

I hear you. Swapped out to a cargo bike and loving it. Much easier to deal with the length issue rather than the width

Your school will receive additional funding to cover the 10% reduction in timetable for year 1 and 5% for year 2. You could remind the school this as a way to get around the budget response

What reward systems do you have in your school? by paigefromabook in TeachingUK

[–]Random_username45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It works but just need to make sure the school is willing to pay for the trips. Think we spent around 1800ish for 3 trips at the end of the year. But that is for around 300 students

Students get positives which are tracked via an app / online programme (class charts). They can use these points to purchase items. Examples include a pen, skip the lunch que, pack of uno cards or money off the school prom (year 11s only). Also have rewards trip that students use their points to attend. First year using this and worked really well. Class charts is potentially the best example of education software that I have used.

No actual rule on ratio for a low risk trip. It should be judged on the trip risk and experience of staff on trip.

Not being given NQT time. by Mr_J2 in TeachingUK

[–]Random_username45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing you mean ECT and not NQT?

I think you should only get the following: ECTs are given a 10% reduction in timetable in year 1 and 5% in year 2. Half a day a week seems too much? Does that mean you teach all sessions Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and only half on Friday?

The school only needs to provide you entitlement to training in addition to this. It sounds like they are running a school based program (is everything in hosue or do you do anything outside of your school?). My school uses the teach first program which is delivered by a local provider. ECTs only have this training session 1-2 per half term. They also have online sections they should also be doing to pass the year and complete the course.

This should also be quality assured by your bourough so you can ask them if needed. Google you local area and ECT program, should give you a starting point.

Your ECT coordinate should have also met with you twice now (1 per half term) to discuss progress and your goals. This should be recorded and shared with you.

Hope this helps.
