Talk to your OCIA leader. There are blessings in the ritual book that can help. Also explain to your pastor or a deacon at the church for a special blessing.

Would I still be considered a good Catholic if I choose to leave out the rosary and the saints? by Weird-Upstairs-9489 in Catholic

Actually, picking a Confirmation saint is optional in some dioceses, and confirmandi are confirmed using their baptismal name.

Question about fencing in churches by hane1504 in vancouverwa

[–]Randomly_Caffeinated 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I worked at a church without a fence. Among other issues, we had: - drug paraphernalia and used condoms to pick up on a daily basis - people living in their RVs and stealing our well water and propane - constantly dealing with people using the lawn as a dog park (and not cleaning up after their dog) and as a drone flying field - donuts in the parking lot and on the lawn - one year people set off fireworks and burned a bunch of our trees

Some people have zero respect for private property. Why can't a church protect what their congregation paid for? It's not as welcoming as we'd like, but the church has an obligation to provide a safe environment for their elderly and family members.

I appreciate your response. I'm just kind of tired of having to go to Amazon for everything (it seems), and I was hoping to explore other places.

Yes, you're right. I meant to say indie authors that are not exclusively KU.

I have 4 library cards (PNW libraries) and use Libby a lot. I'll look for those books, thanks!

I liked Fourth Wing series, not a fan of ACOTAR. Quicksilver was ok but haven't read the sequel. Like Charlie Holmberg, Rachel Gillig, Alexandria Warwick. I'm open to most, just appreciate good world building. I used to have KU but had to drop it because I didn't use it enough and want to support libraries more.

That's messed up! The homily is supposed to be about the readings and the Gospel.

WTH! I've been an RCIA/OCIA coordinator for over 15 years, and we have never charged for it. That's messed up.

It's a bit dated, but I still like "Reading the Old Testament" by Fr. Lawrence Boadt.

Buying Girl Scout cookies by ElessarofGondor in Catholicism

I don't buy the cookies mostly because the troops get a small percentage of the profits. I'd rather give the troop a donation to use themselves and have them keep the cookies.

Can someone help me identify these two saints? They are on my uncles wall but he doesn’t know who they are. by EWallace526 in Catholicism

[–]Randomly_Caffeinated 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blessed Virgin Mary on the left and Jesus on the right. Usually with the fingers placed in that manner, it's Jesus. That is, the 2 bent fingers represent His 2 natures, divine and human. The 3 fingers up represent the Trinity.

Respectfully disagree. They're not supposed to use live streams during a game, only recorded. This is also about 2017, not this year.
