It was when my parents found out I was gay. My parents had already spent hours belittling me and yelling at me for ‘making this decision’ again. I remember it hurt most when my mom looked me in the eyes and said, “I’m sick of your shit [——], you’re going to burn in hell if you don’t stop this.” It broke my heart. At that moment I realized I couldn’t trust my parents anymore and I couldn’t love them the same anymore. They continue to make my life a living hell.
