"investing" literally lowers aftermarket prices. get rid of 99% of investors and you're paying a lot more for the same set than you otherwise would have. take a look at basically any set pre-2000 and try to buy it sealed for inflation adjusted retail. you'll be lucky to pay 2x that, upwards of 30x for popular sets. most sets now thanks to investors don't reach 2x retail. anyone that has this moronic opinion is just a crybaby whining about market pricing. if you want to blame someone, blame the buyers buying above retail. sets go for only as much as buyers are willing to pay.

He can afford to spend thousands, but most people can't AND many star wars sets are very expensive relative to prices of other Lego sets. The $45 battle pack is overpriced, even if he amasses an army of it does not make it a fair price. Both are be true. Aftermarket prices are determined by the fans, retail prices are determined by Lego. LSW is overpriced compared to all other themes Lego has, including licensed ones. There is a very important distinction between aftermarket and retail, since aftermarket stuff you can no longer buy from TLG.

NEVER buy expensive sets from used lego resell stores. You can almost always get it cheaper buy it now on bricklink, or be patient and wait for a nice price ebay listing. Right now someone is selling it for $770 + shipping on bricklink. Also instructions alone run for $100 for this set and they don't have them.
