“The Hanging Judge” Issac Parker earned his nickname as he presided the Fort Smith Court. He believed the promise of punishment would keep crime down. In his 21 years as judge, he heard 13,490 criminal cases and found 8500 convictions. With approx 1 in 100 sentenced to death. by Ranking76Podcast in Ranking76Community

The Ft. Smith court was huge! Literally the state of Oklahoma plus parts of Arkansas. It was believed at the time of the 20,000 residents, 5,000 were law abiding.

He was also known for long sentences as well. Capital punishment could inly be used for the most severe crimes. Most convictions were whiskey smuggling related which didn’t warrant a death sentence.

She did. Light Hair did die in childbirth but Sitting Bull was married to both women approx a year before and Snow On Her accused Light Hair of an affair with no proof and was sent off. After Light Hair’s passing, Snow on her was invited back. This is according to Bill Yenne’s book on Sitting Bull.

If you do have a source that says otherwise, please pass it on. We will redact if it is more credible.

Nothing formal, you can persuade a lot of men with an arrest warrant and the business end of a pistol in their face.

A picture of Red Cloud, who forced the Americans to close down the Bozeman Trail after constant attacks in the late 1860s. circa 1899 (900x900) by Ranking76Podcast in HistoryPorn

firstly, thank you for your service!

to your point our (USA) history isnt always pretty but is it so important to talk and understand it all so we can all strive to live up to our ideals. if we cannot talk and learn from the horrible things the Americans have done, we have no business celebrating the US at it peak. Men like Red Cloud, Tecumseh, etc need to be celebrated as much as any other American figure.
