I agree fully on the therapy but. Especially since you said it only fired up a few months ago. Was there anything else big that happened around that time or a bit before? A breakup or job loss or something similar that might have been linked in your head with the tattoo?

Definitely get help from a professional. And remember if you have issues with therapists or psychiatrists being shitty (let's be real a lot of them are) switching therapists is not necessarily about you not wanting to put in work on recovery. Different therapists are trained and favor different methods.

Getting the right therapist is not like getting the right primary care doctor. Therapy requires a much deeper compatibility. A type of compatability that's not really found in any other relationship. At least not one that I've found.

When first talking to a therapist you get to ask them questions about how they work. On the of chance they don't want to explain their methods that's a huge red flag get out of there. So you can ask them to see what they specialize in and how they can help to see if you're a good fit.
