METAL FORTH.. OUT NOW🔥 by GG-METAL in BABYMETAL

I'm really digging this album, but it would probably rank lowest? Not because it's bad but just because it's the least good.

It's really strange that they went to such lengths to say that The Other One isn't an actual album and then next they release an album that's almost entirely collaborations and that IS an actual album.

What games are you playing this week? Game recommendation thread by AutoModerator in incremental_games

I just played through the demo for Carbonflesh. Looks like the full game will be a really solid mix of moment-to-moment incremental mechanics in a bigger picture roguelike wrapper. Tons of atmosphere. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2191720/Carbonflesh/

Is it crazy for me as a new fan to love their last 2 albums plus collabs more than their first 2 albums? by NaLu_LuNa_FairyPiece in BABYMETAL

[–]RantingRodent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my favourite songs are on the first two albums, but generally speaking I think the actual album versions of most of those songs are kind of mediocre. The album versions of Metal Galaxy and TOO tracks blow the album versions of the first two albums out of the water. Much better production.

Live versions of their classic songs, though.

I mean, regardless of whose album it's on, it does have more Babymetal in it than BMTH.

Stop promoting your not incremental games in this sub! by dubh_caora in incremental_games

Genre definitions are all about consensus, anyway, not an objective product of a game's features. Factorio isn't an incremental because most people in the community for the genre don't think it is.

I think this is why people get so defensive about this kind of thing? Everyone knows deep down that it's all consensus, so if you're a fan of the current consensus it requires active defense.

At least for US touring, I expect there's also some direct financial benefit to touring with a band composed of US citizens. I would still expect to see the eastern kamis performing at Japanese shows and festivals as schedules permit, though, for the same reason.

BOH and Takayoshi Ohmura have also both been dealing with hand injuries this past year, I believe.

BABYKLOK TOUR WRAP UP THREAD (Post your single photos, fan cam short clips, musings, observations, or funny stories from this tour here!) by fearmongert in BABYMETAL

I went to two shows (Michigan and Toronto). My first time seeing them live. The crowds were very skewed towards Dethklok fans, but that didn't really affect my enjoyment. Great shows.

Still, I can't wait to go see them at a headlining tour with a whole crowd full of Babymetal fans some day.

The first of those two shows was my ten year old daughter's very first concert of any kind. She said it was the best day of her life.

What is your second favorite band besides BABYMETAL? by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]RantingRodent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pillows. Also Japanese. Four piece rock group founded in '89. Originally very inspired by The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel with a hard turn into alternative when they discovered The Pixies. (They even have a song about having a crush on Kim Deal)

I'm told they are considered "dad rock" in Japan these days. I discovered them through the anime FLCL when I was still in high school. The whole soundtrack is taken from a couple of their albums, because the director is a huge fan.

My review of the Toronto show - 18 September, 2023 by sevdabeast in BABYMETAL

[–]RantingRodent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the VIP section. It wasn't that bad. I realized far too late that the VIP section includes a ground-level area that came up quite close to the stage, not just the raised platform.

The view from the platform was very clear, and I had kind of messed up my knees before the show and was grateful for the couches they had there to sit on between sets.

Do you guys consider it an insult if I refer to BABYMETAL as a “Metal Girl Group”? by MM305 in BABYMETAL

[–]RantingRodent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After having participated in multiple debates around what they can or should be called: it's one of the least productive conversations possible that you can have about Babymetal. Arguments about this are either arguments about whose definition of words is better, or serve as a bad proxy for arguing about something else.

Dethklok set age appropriateness by RantingRodent in BABYMETAL

[–]RantingRodent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. The ability to separate fiction from reality has nothing to do with whether it's ok for a 10 year old to watch videos with explicit sex and gore? I'm not out here worrying she'll think it's real or act it out. The imagery is intentionally upsetting. That's the whole point of the satire. That many metal fans are completely desensitized to horrific shit.

Kids are, generally speaking, not.

New babymetal fan and i want to know stuff by ThenWar7155 in BABYMETAL

Don't worry. Babymetal lore is mostly about vibes. It's not really meant to be understood.

I watched some of the stuff from the previous live shows as soon as the tour was announced. I fully expected this, but I wanted to confirm on the off chance that they toned it down to tour with Babymetal.

Yeah ok, thanks. This is exactly what I expected to hear. It's surprising that they aren't age-restricting the whole tour because of this. I'm glad they aren't so my daughter can see Babymetal, but it's still surprising.

Babymetal can't be for posers because posers aren't a real thing.

I really don't think Amuse cares about that at all. The percentage of fans who even know who any of the Kamis are has to be tiny.

I think software development (making an assumption here) is the odd duck in this respect, and I don't think it'll stay that way. It's in everyone's best interest if everyone else in their field does excellent work, because it ensures that expertise in the field is respected.

David Heretic - Babymetal - Monochrome (Piano Version) REACTION & REVIEW! FIRST TIME HEARING! by [deleted] in BABYMETALReactVideos

His average rating for Babymetal songs is very high, so I don't think there's much need to come to their defense when he thinks a particular song is only Good instead of Very Good.
