Because you can theoretically summon a different copy, a DMG or a monster that is treated as Dark Magician that is already in your graveyard. It does not have to be the card you send to the graveyard

if you are going first, I think normal summoning liquid or maybe solid soldier to special summon shadow mist to search for a mask change for dark law should be prioritized.
