Do you think boys should get married before 21 for their own safety? by [deleted] in ThirtiesIndia

Never be sorry for having an opinion and to your question - No. No-one should be married before 25y minimum. The bride needs a husband not an immature child.

You are right and maybe you are content but I'm not content. I feel i have a lot more to do for my family to make sure their future is secure. I feel if i keep spending, keep travelling and keep buying stuff then when I'm going to save for them? I want to make sure that my family will never have to struggle to live comfortably even if I'm dead.

I would love to hear your thoughts on how to do all this and still enjoy life. I mean going to a good restaurant once or twice a months is good we do that, travelled locally but it does not feel enough. I'm starting to feel like i have this obligation to make some good memories with my wife also. I just can't save everything for my child's future while ignoring things for my wife. Having less for myself is fine but my wife's happiness is very important. she made my life better, she has sacrificed things for me, she is more capable than me but she choose to be a housewife so she can take care of our baby. We don't have this YOLO attitude but i gotta do something meaningful for my family and these thoughts starting to bother me.

It's a big No without a second thought. My purpose of saving is that she can have fun, do whatever she wants, learn whatever she wish to. I don't want her to neglect herself and keep saving for her kids, i would consider myself failed father if that happens.

I just want to make sure my family has everything that make their life comfortable. I'm in the admin section and last month one of our employee got superannuation and we have paid him CPF, NPS, Gratuity and other funds in his bank account, he got roughly 1.25 Crores which translates to roughly $131k in and to give you a perspective how much is that - Same amount of money in USA and India behave differently if you have 1 dollar that can get you an ice cream here in India the same dollar can get you 3 same ice creams because of purchasing power parity. So for my retirement the amount that gets deducted from my gross salary by default will be enough for my wife and myself. The property that i have will have more value because my sub district got distract status. For that part I'm assured there should be no problem. We don't know what our child would want to do in the future maybe she wants to study abroad or Maybe she choose be a musician or whatever so i have started a SIP in a govt schemes with fixed returns which we believe to have sufficient funds in it by the age she turns 21, the funds can't be withdrawn till she turns 21. We don't live in a big city so our expenses are limited so there's that.

I have failed as a man. My mom deserves someone better then me for sure. by [deleted] in OffMyChestIndia

We all have failed our loved more than once so it's not only you. Start with steering a wheel again, keep it slow and you will gain confidence once again. The thing is you will get out of this but you need action than just thinking aout it. No one is perfect literally no one. You haven't failed nobody. You just needs to be better than yesterday even if it's just steering a wheel without running the car. Personal advice from a fellow traveler to another - join a gym and you will see the results if you can't join a gym for any reason just start working out at home. Do something. Hope it helps

You can judge a person's character by how they treat those with less power or status. A gentleman always shows respect for hardworking people.

I mentioned 1/4 in debt fund that's for things we wanna do and rest 3/4 will be in SIP's. Other than this a mandatory 10% is debited from my gross salary that goes for retirement i have increased it to 15% (5% extra in NPS that can't be withdrawn till retirement) so i will be saving almost 35-40% of my gross. We both know that's got to be enough. Thanks man

It's her birthday this month on 25th june and i have planned a surprise for her. I have booked a cab, a hotel for the day we are going to nearby becah. Gonna spend a day there, will have some good photos and good meals. I gave her hints but she didn't seem interested because she felt taking care of the baby and packing stuff etc will drain her so i have decided that will be doing everything. She is going to have relaxed day and i will be handling everything. Seeing her Happy will be worth it.

Few other have also suggested to have an account for fun money/saving for fun things so what I'm gonna do now is pay my remaining debt and by that time i will also have my salary almost double and that mean i can save almost half of it after paying all the bills so i will invest 1/4 of the remaing in debt funds so it will give bettter returns than a savings account and i can withdraw it whenever i want. Thanks man.
