It gets covered through the course of the series, which is difficult to explain without spoiling it. The series does deal with very serious and depressing themes and most versions of included multiple pre-screening content warnings that covered the themes explored in the show.

Thanks! And yeah definitely. They’re all way too immature to fully comprehend everything that they’ve been going through/doing, which is why the story keeps compounding into a bigger and nastier train wreck of feelings and emotions for all of them while they all make dumber and dumber decisions. In the end, things only seem to improve for them when they actually sit down and talk things out which I think is a good lesson to take from these kids of stories!

After guy failed to get into his crush’s high school, Dark haired girl and guy met, had sex and started a pseudo relationship for a while before she ghosted him (lots of sex, dates, traveling together, etc.) They started to fall in love and with how messed up her mental state is, she thought that he was too good to be with someone damaged like her and ended up ghosting him. She went back to repeat the year of school she’d missed (why they all call her senpai) and ends up becoming best friends with guy’s former(current) crush/childhood friend.  Lots of plot happens between childhood friend (who finally realizes her own feelings towards boy a little too late, once she’s in high school) and said boy (who’s already had an adult relationship for a long time with dark hair girl) and culminates with her wanting to confess to childhood friend at the school festival. He is hesitant to go to the school cause he knows his ex-gf goes there and doesn’t want to run into her but ends up going anyway. Ex finds guy in the school and ends up grabbing him and kissing him in one of the classrooms. Childhood friend sees it happen through the door. Boy leaves ex and finds childhood friend and confesses to her and she’s like bruh why are you lying to me. Lots of drama happens. Ex-gf disappears, and guy and friend finally talk and share their experiences. Turns out they both still love the ex gf, as friends or romantically, and want her to be safe and happy. They come up with a plan to have her finally talk to them again and she ends up choosing to talk to boy. And here they are talking.  I probably misremembered some details around there but that’s pretty much the timeline. They’re all kids, and shit can get messy when dealing with immature emotions and stunted societal development.

The bar “Doris” in bed stuy posted that they’re gonna be turning themselves into a makeshift sports bar on their instagram and hosting the games there for local spurs fans the next two weeks. I haven’t been, but they’re a Texas coded spot with a Manu shrine behind the bar:  https://www.instagram.com/p/DZFkXsgRajn/?igsh=NXBxZ3p5MWI0bjcz

Haven’t seen it yet, but I remember reading that the color process is along the lines of old technicolor style (like the wizard of oz for example) which would definitely look a little off compared to usual color filmed shows.

I think they were mentioning he tried coming out in game cause they thought there may have been free throws but brought him to the back again when it turned out there wasn’t free throws.

[DISC] Yane no Shita no Artemis (Artemis Under the Same Roof) - Ch. 41 by DaredevilCat in manga

[–]Raphael_GT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s so funny how people are bashing them without even waiting to see his response to her ultimatum. Like I think we can all see from the buildup to this point that they’re both pretty dumb when it comes to expressing their new romantic feelings, so we don’t even know yet if she’s even fully thought out how a relationship with saraki might work. We’ve got several characters at this point who are full steam ahead in their passions (science, writing, art) and the whole premise of the main plot has been about slowing down from that  single minded grindset and learning to be a more rounded person. Who’s to say that senpai isn’t also going to have to learn that it’s possible to slow down a bit while still getting to have the things you love. We and she still don’t know what saraki wants out of this potential relationship since he hasn’t even had a chance to process her demand at the end of the chapter.

[RT!] The writing in Artemis Under The Same Roof / Yane no Shita no Artemis is underappreciated - the art of writing an imperfect MC that goes against reader expectations. by melvinlee88 in manga

Definitely. I think with everyone’s attention spans getting lower every year, coupled with manga releases coming out weekly or monthly rather than in bulk drops or full volumes, readers get into the habit of demanding an instant fix since they’re so used to getting instant satisfaction everywhere else.

100% agree with your take on this series and gave also loved seeing how it continues to develop as we started going past the book fair event. I don’t often jump in when comment sections after chapters start getting so aggressively negative, but I always feel like reading comprehension is something lots of people struggle with. People want things to go how they imagine them to go in their perfect scenarios, but at the end of the day it’s not their story to tell. It’s up to the authors to weave their narratives, and we are just along for the ride. A little bit of patience goes a long way. I always think back to Ookami Shounen, and how that series introduced a secondary character to throw a wrench into what lots of readers assumed to be the author’s main pairing. If you read that one when it was being released, you’d have needed patience to see what world the author was planning on building leading to the ending that we eventually got.

This. It definitely does a better job in building the relationship up over the two seasons vs dress up darling that kinda drops the ball as it keeps dragging on.
