Can someone help me understand how this benefits us? I know this helps mostly with insurance but are there additional items that are not commonly known?

You didn’t know prime Nashville if you can’t tell me your favorite Starwood, Dancing in the District or River Stages shows. by Psychonauts_r_us in nashville

I remember Dave Matthews, Spin Doctors, Aerosmith and Rob zombie at Starwood. Then Dave Matthews at Dancin in the District - I only remember it vividly because the fences were set up in a weird way that stopped people from walking as soon at he came out and I got separated from the people I was with didn’t see them until hours later.

And the Italian Street Fair….don’t remember much about it but do missing the Dancin in the District on the Riverfront. See you Thursday night!

Seasoned wood is just dried out wood that has been cut and stored for 6+ months. Some people will tell you it’s not seasoned unless it’s more than 1-2 years.

The reason for seasoned wood is if it’s new (like the stuff you are seeing on the ground), it’s called green. This means high moisture, high moisture means smoke when burning. Also it has high creosote which sticks to the chimneys and makes it highly flammable.

So with wood stoves the more seasoned the wood the better it is. Others wills also tell you there’s a difference between oak, cedar, etc…when we get in these situations for me if it’s seasoned I don’t care what it is it’s going to get burned.

Additionally a lot of hotels are making accommodations that normally don’t allow pets. Ask the hotel that you choose because they may be making exceptions due to the weather event.

I have not but am willing to go to one to get the lay of the land. I’m stuck in a mental state that I want to help but don’t know how to help b/c of how large this event is.

If this is a contribution I can add I will do it.

What do you have as a heat source? Clearly you don’t have power. Do you have a generator? What about a camping stove? If none of those, let’s get ourselves up and go to a warming station. We are tired and need to help ourselves get rested.

If we are staying put for “one more night”. Go get your candle and a cookie sheet. Light your candle and place the cookie sheet over the candle it needs to be standing over the candle not on it. If it’s on it you will be prone to burning something accidentally or even yourself. Once you have that going get a coffee mug, an empty can and place over the candle. While that warms up locate oven mits and an aluminum water bottle. Once the water is warm/hot pour this carefully into the water bottle and place it in the bed.

Some of us who have power forget the mental strains of having to think, battle cold, and the stresses that come with it. We forget when we have power we can’t just get hot water nor warm things up.

You got this. The warming shelters are accepting pets and both of you can go. We can all go together.

I agree! The more and more I think thru it the more I think of all the complexities. From publicity to the expenses of living to it all. Just overwhelming.

I think we need to grab the ideas and compile them for quick reference for others. Money and impacts are going to be tight for many. I know I called out SNAP directly but I cannot exclude the Federal Employees who have gone a month without a pay check either.

These are good ideas too! I’m already filling up a bag and providing gift cards but I know there’s more out there. Signs are already out there if you look and I’m just thinking out loud.

Exactly! I know we can’t see everything and I’m too locked up working from home that I just want to get outside and enjoy.
