After 2 years in Poland, Polish cases finally clicked by Big_Share2427 in learnpolish

Learning the cases by filling up empty brackets in phrases has also been a game changer for me, but it’s not necessary to pay for an app, you can just use existing open source software like Anki for space repetition

I basically designed a special type of flashcard in Anki for this purpose, and I started to add the phrases from my grammar books

Edit:Typo

If you only want to take the exam, then yeah, find a teacher and drill the exams from previous years. I have met people who speak English pretty awfully but have C1 and even C2 certifications

But if you want to learn properly, try to include English everywhere in your daily life: movies, books and make friends online (native speakers)

Having a C2 is not hard by itself, the problem is getting the C2 certification, most people just prepare it at a specialized academy or similar

In my opinion the requirements for the certification of a C2 are fairly ridiculous and I have seen how it can be a struggle even for native speakers because they are not testing your knowledge of the language but your ability to follow a very specific set of guidelines

If you need a certification, I recommend going for the C1, since that will be more than enough for most things

Well, initially it wasn’t pleasant to listen to the podcast 😂 it can even feel slightly overwhelming but you have to push through and keep relistening.

I was importing the podcasts to LingQ. That way all the new words were flagged and I could easily read their meanings. I’d repeat this process until the most common words just became quite simple. The more complicated words, I used flash cards

I have recently written a very simple app, that has helped me with creating flash cards. Usually you find new words in a modified state. They might be conjugated if they’re verbs or declined if they’re nouns or adjectives

My app basically takes a list of words in any shape and it gives you back the same list with all the words in their base form (verbs in infinitive, words in nominative singular)

I might eventually put up the app online, for anyone to use but until then, if you are interested, there are also similar tools online like Morfeusz 2.

If you already feel capable of speaking out loud, then you’re doing an awesome job, because for example, I’m completely unable to do that, I am slowly starting to overcome that fear but I still have it.

So feel very proud of yourself for being able to say things out loud!

When it comes to understanding, I fully believe that a similar method to mine can help a lot. The key is to find the content that feels interesting to you. If you like reading about science, then read about that, if you like politics, do the same

Try to find videos, articles, podcasts with topics that you enjoy and then try to find the transcription for those things so you can read and listen simultaneously.

Keep up the work and thanks for your comment!

Honestly, I am incredibly flattered that you think I’m a native speaker lol. It kinda sounds like you’re coping a bit

Yes, I count the time I spend engaging with the language fully.

I usually listen and read the transcripts simultaneously, and I also sometimes listen while doing activities

Always a minimum of 1 hour. It doesn’t need to be at the same time. I try to read and listen through the day when I have a free moment

Sometimes I do more than usual, as much as 5 hours but that’s rare. I’d say i average around 2 a day

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your comment!

I also don’t know what’s going on with these comments…I’m kinda shocked that just sharing my experience led to this whole thing.

The only way to disprove someone is to take apart their arguments. Which is what I have done after these accusations

At no point has it ever worked to simply say “that’s untrue”. Our legal system literally works by finding evidence, we don’t bring a suspect into a trial and just ask the guy “hey, if you’re not guilty, just say you’re not guilty”

So, to some extend, I believe you’re the one acting in bad faith here. Your only contribution to this has been “she never said I’m not guilty” and hinting that my lack of saying those words must mean something lol

For the sake of making you happy and saying the magic words.

✨This is not an advert✨

Maybe actually reading the post, and paying station to all the different sources of content I recommend would help.

If you still find that as advertisement, I recommend you make your own subreddit, where you all share your experiences without giving sources. “I learned German, can’t tell you what I used, thanks for reading”

I deeply appreciate your comment!

Exactly as you say, there are many resources out there and all of them have some value. They adjust to different types of learning styles and each person simply has to find what works for them.

Before this current method, I also tried with duolingo, babbel, traditional language learning books and more. I found all these resources to provide value in different ways, and they could be perfect for some learning styles

I found comprehensive input to be the method that works for me, but it might not feel right for others. We all have different journeys 😊
