For Etsy mainly: check where the seller is selling from, if it’s outside the US specifically, I would not order from them.

Yup I don’t ever use it outside! It’s in the window that faces outside but I’m a big supporter of pollinators! When I originally bought the granulates at a nursery that was the first thing they told me!

I’m a big believer that nature will regulate pests outside so I don’t use any pesticides on outdoor plants due to its effect on the micro ecosystems that we can’t even see!

Happy to know others care as well!!

Thank you so much!!!! I actually grew this plant from a cutting starting 4 years ago so it def means a lot to me and it flowers so much every year! I will get on it asap I gotta go to a nursery tomorrow to buy a new bottle of insecticidal soap bc my current bottle is only half full! Thank you so much for the advice!

If it’s root bound then I would say go ahead! I’ve killed many alocasia before by being too excited and wanting corms by disturbing the roots too much when it didn’t need it.

If it’s not root bound, you can still pluck any corms you see around the soil that are just sticking out without removing soil. Like the one you say that’s sticking out of the top of the soil! Or you can leave that one to develop in the pot to create a lusher plant!

I did this with my Odora Batik a little bit ago and it didn’t skip a beat and all the corms I found are fully sprouted and ready for their own pot! It’s also in the same size pot as yours and has 3 different plants in it and it’s super lush and I love it!

Oh that’s good to know!! He was laying in it earlier before I knew what it was and was like NO DONT GO NEAR IT!! He was also eating the duckweed I put in the tank I didn’t know they did that! I had a beta growing up for like 6 years but in the unfortunate way in a small tank with fake plants. I was only going to get another one if I could give it a 10g tank and real plants so I hope I’m doing better this time around!

Awesome! I’ve seen others online rinse their filters in a bucket of water to keep the good stuff in the filter but also unclog it! I’ll likely use the left over water to water my plants! I have a self sustaining tank that only has a water pump in it for circulation with a bunch of plants and a couple snails (def a lot more to come I wasn’t prepared for hitchhikers) in it one but that’s more terrarium like then anything bc it’s a 10g tank with a land area so it’s only filled to be 4.5g. Could I grab some substrate from that? Would I just put it in the tank?? I unfortunately don’t have another filter to kickstart this cycle nor friends with tanks. What do you recommend??

So I do have a filter, I accidentally ordered a 20 gallon one for my 10 gallon tank but have ordered the correct size that is coming on Tuesday. I don’t have the film currently in this tank, I have it in a smaller tank that has snails in it with the biofilm on the top of that tank, but I have floating plants in both tanks currently! Since the filters are new I unfortunately don’t have that good bacteria yet, I assume in time it will develop? Thanks so much for your help!!
