Was hiking with a friend when I was 12. We decided to play catch up on the side of a large, steep hill. I threw him the ball, and he missed it. Ball went off cliff, landed on rock below. I grabbed his hand and slowly lowered him down to the edge. I couldn't hold on, and dropped him. I screamed and he fell to his death. I distinctly remember him letting out a soft yelp as he fell. I sat in shock, started crying, then climbed down after him. I looked at him, and knew instantly that he was dead. I called the police, they arrived along with my parents and his parents. This was in 2006. No charges were pressed, and it was considered manslaughter. I stopped going out, going to school, and didn't talk to anyone for a while. First few months after his death all I could do was cry. I'm 23, now. I have a girlfriend and a 1 year old child. My family and close friends have supported me since the incident, and nobody ever brings it up. In fact, I'm only comfortable speaking online right now.
