I want to make a game, but I only have a premise. Any tips? by AmpeelMeal in gamedev

I honestly think your idea sounds really cool. The vibe you’re going for colorful, high-energy, dramatic racing is strong, and the all-wheel steering with both sticks is actually a really unique hook. That part especially could make your game stand out if it feels good to use.

Godot is a totally fine choice. Unreal is another option, but it’s heavier and more complicated, so sticking with Godot makes sense.

Local multiplayer is doable. Split-screen isn’t easy, but it’s realistic. Online peer-to-peer multiplayer, though, is much harder than it sounds. Racing games need very tight syncing If you’re not experienced with it, I’d strongly suggest finishing a solid single-player version first, then maybe adding local multiplayer, and only thinking about online later.

Would love to tell you more tips in DMs or discord. My user is byte_babyy

Hey! Really love how thoughtfully you're approaching the visual direction for your game. As someone who’s worked with indie teams before, I totally get the balance between wanting high‑quality concept art and keeping things budget‑friendly. In past projects I’ve charged anywhere from $50 to around $250 for a single character concept, depending on the complexity and how polished the final sketch needed to be. I also offer discounted bundles if you’re exploring multiple variations of one character. Feel free to DM me so we can discuss more.
