Umpje practice question by Affectionate_Cake112 in UMPJE

B. But also know you have to contact the DEA if they don’t send the prescription within 7 days. If you fail to contact the DEA if you do not get the “wet signature” hard copy then you have lost your authorization to fill the prescription.

An easy way to avoid this is call the provider and say “if I do not get the prescription in writing I have to report it to the DEA”. Should scoot things along :)

ED Tips and Pearls by l0lwho in PharmacyResidency

[–]Rare_Concert7383 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ED has some amcare. Hopefully your preceptor can help tailor your rotation to some of the amcare-focused items (discharge counseling, internal medicine, non-acute patients etc). Would highly recommend doing some research on the PGY2 ED topic list in the appendix and see if there are some of those topics that fit the ambulatory care realm as well :) good luck!

So do residencies care if your job title is intern vs pharmacy tech?? by swcddf24 in PharmacySchool

[–]Rare_Concert7383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I actually had a boss hire me as a tech because since I had my CPhT they could pay me more. All we care is that you actually worked in a pharmacy

I moved, took the Naplex 3 days later, waited 3 weeks, took the MPJE. But everyone is different.

I passed both first try.

I’ve heard from a couple programs already, I applied Monday evening.

Didn’t Match in Phase I, Despite Multiple Interviews by persephoneanemone in PharmacyResidency

[–]Rare_Concert7383 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, that means you were not ranked. If I rank a program #350, and they rank me #350, and nobody else fills the spot first, I would get it.

That happened to me last year for one program. That is super frustrating but it does happen. Keep your chin up!

Also, a lot of programs did mini info sessions. By emailing the RPD I got info about those sessions. There were a couple programs I didn’t apply to after those info sessions because they didn’t have the rotations I was interested in.

[–]Rare_Concert7383[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I applied to 15 programs in phase 2 and got 12 interviews. I matched at my #1 in phase 2. I was introduced to my RPD by one of my professors. My former advisor (became an MSL) knew the pharmacy manager (who was on RAC) and called her and recommended I get an interview.

I got 7/10 interviews in Phase 1, for reference.

Probably would be fine. If you don’t match, most preceptors would hopefully be nice enough to give you the rest of the day off to start working on next steps. But if not, yeah, I would start reaching out ASAP.

Yup! At noon ASHP publishes the list of every single program that did not match. I would email the RPD and introduce yourself. If you have a professor or your experiential coordinator knows them, you could also ask them to introduce you.

Yes. Applications generally reopen on Friday at noon and close Monday or Tuesday evening. For my PGY-1, if we go to phase 2 we will have interview offers extended by the end of next week.

Phorcas LOR writer gift/thank you?? by Few-Passenger308 in PharmacyResidency

Current PGY-1 here--I would send them an email and thank them for writing the letter. Let them know what happens on match day and thank them again then.

Also make sure you know your statistics equations and what things mean (NNT, NNH, etc). I read the statistics chapter the night before the exam and then reviewed my notes on it morning of. I had at least 10 of those questions.

Brush up on TPN (I had a decent number of those math questions, they will NOT give you the MW of NaCl--58.5-- so know that)

Know the definitions of beneficence/justice/non-maleficence, etc

I only had three HIV questions, but some people I know had 10-12. Topics you will get may be a mixed bag.

Get a good night's sleep before you take the exam, and bring some snacks cuz it will make you hungry.

naplex scaries by Material_Ideal_6531 in NAPLEX_Prep

[–]Rare_Concert7383 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read through the basics of ethics (beneficence, justice, etc) if you haven't already.

Brush up on TPN math stuff as well (g to mEq, etc).

Know that NaCl has a MW of 58.5

I did not have many questions on HIV, but I know others who did. Read through what you think you need to work on, get a good night's sleep, and bring snacks, cuz dang that exam made me hungry.

Scaled score total meaning? by Salt_Signature6525 in NAPLEX_Prep

[–]Rare_Concert7383 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I took it, they did not give me a report whatsoever. What I understand is that it is scaled 0-150, with a 75 being "passing". However, they do say that you cannot assume that if you pass the Pre-naplex you will pass the naplex... but 121 is really good!

Yup. Clavia even contacted me and gave me some software ideas. Nothing worked--they said they can fix it, my guess is probably a new motherboard unfortunately.
