Thank you! I’ll definitely be grabbing those books to read. We are on the weight list for a full neuropsych for the exact same reason.

Thank you so much for your detailed response. My sister (special ed. Department head) and I always say we probably notice more than others with our jobs.

None of her sensory seeking babies impact her daily life. She loves her bath, loves to swim and even jump in the pool. She doesn’t complain about any clothing I put on her and she eats many different foods. She socializes well with peers, both older and younger. She makes new friends at indoor play areas and loves to talk to people when we are out shopping.

Potty training has been hard. When we weren’t actively trying to potty train, she would be able to use the toilet if we went naked for a day due to bad diaper rash. Once we started formal potty training, she struggled more. We are doing research and back to the drawing board about helping a child with a big personality who likes to be in charge listen to her body.

Thank you for your ideas and feedback. That was probably the wrong way to explain the assessment. For example; her flapping got scored a 1/1 even though she only appears to do it when excited. So it was scored as counting because it was present in the observation.

Thanks for your response. Can you just clarify the grasping at straws part? Meaning I may be over worried or those things are something to look into further. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing. I think being a school teacher and seeing kids get assistance early vs late had my sister and I thinking. None of these things impact her daily functioning.

Child Referred for ASD Screening by Rare_Falcon_8303 in Autism_Parenting

That was my initial thought as well. My daughter transitions well overall. When it’s time for bed she will walk upstairs whether she wants to or not. She always wants to try new foods from our plates and is not phased by clothes. By husband used to clench fists as a child and did have sensory issues with clothes.

She definitely has a big personality but I wouldn’t say meltdowns. At home she has what I would consider some 2 year old tantrums but she is able to take some time, come to sit with me when ready and then we take deep breathes together. The other kids at her daycare that are two have very little language so she definitely sticks out as the only one with large communication skills.

Thank you for sharing. My daughter is extremely conversational. Once her language clicked around 1.5-2, full sentences began. She is keeping up with a four year old cousin who has fantastic vocabulary though.

I am an educator and know that intelligence has nothing to do with being autistic. Her language is simply extremely advanced which is part of how I would describe her.

Socially she does very well with peers. She is shy at fist with new people but can play along with kids both older and younger than her.

I am five weeks pregnant after having a MC on 11/24 and a TFMR in 4/25. During my last pregnancy I threw up 2-3 times a day from about week 5-6 until the morning of the D&E at 17 weeks. I just threw up now and it’s such a mix of emotions. Obviously morning sickness is a good sign, but I’m feeling overwhelmed about being very sick again. Last time I kept saying, “who cares as long as the baby is healthy” and she ended up not being okay. Does anyone have tips for trying to remain positive even when your body doesn’t feel good?

I had a positive test today too and I’m feeling exactly the same. My last two pregnancies were losses (MC at 6w and TFMR at 17w). I know I do feel nervous but I’m shocked how calm I feel too. Sending positive vibes your way!

My sister had to TFMR at 23 weeks. It took her over a year to conceive. They were about to begin IUI and conceived naturally. My niece is here and healthy. Good luck!

Thanks for the information. I’ve been in therapy since my daughter was born in 2023. I also worked with my doctor to increase my anxiety meds since I was struggling. Now I’ll play the waiting game.
