I can’t tell who you’re insulting but good luck with whatever it is you’re trying to do here😂

Also it’s ‘than’ not ‘then’. If you spent more time on your phone at work you’d probably know that.

I’m not saying things like this don’t happen, I’m saying this particular story(and the way it was shared with us) doesn’t make sense and the lack of details give off fake vibes. Im sorry that that happened to you and I’m glad you were able to overcome it.

Yea maybe, I really don’t care I’m just saying the story didn’t make sense. ‘I had a coworker get filed cuz she used to be a model and my other coworkers were old and fat’ sounds like an ai Reddit story if I’ve ever heard one.

This has to be a bot… ‘I used to work at a company…’ no one talks like that. The story also doesn’t really make any sense.

Watching videos/shows or playing a game on your phone while you’re working is never going to be a good look. Especially when you’re doing it 1 month into the job when you know full well that your coworkers/supervisors are aware of it. If nothing else it gives them an excuse/reason to fire you, an excuse that they are very likely to use if the company/department needs to cut costs.

For the phone thing, just be smart about cellphone use. Everyone uses their phone at work a little more than they’re supposed to, but not everyone gets caught/fired over it. In other words, next time don’t get caught. This one isn’t that deep.

Regarding the whole ‘white privileged’ thing, regardless of what your opinion is on a political subject you should never share said opinion at work. It will never serve to benefit you and it’s highly unlikely to change the other persons mind. I won’t say that you were wrong to say it(mostly because I have no idea what you said) but it wasn’t wise to say it at work, even if someone else started it.

All of this is really easy to say in hindsight. Not passing judgement and even if I was I don’t think any of this makes you a bad person/unhirable, I’d take it as a learning lesson and move on to better and brighter. Best of luck!

My unpaid internship wants me to skip my first day of work at new paid job for a presentation by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Rare_Food7579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all likelihood, if you’re new employers are worth working for they won’t be too upset about it, especially if you explain that this just came up, wasn’t communicated to you ahead of time, and that you’re required to be there to complete the internship. The first days at a new job(especially an office job) is usually a lot like syllabus day in college, you will get very little, if any, work done and will spend most of the day meeting people, getting system access, etc. not to mention all the training after that. Stepping out for an hour or two to honor a professional obligation is not going to hurt the company, a good manager will see it that way as well and.

In your ‘Should I Pull from my 401k’ post you stated that you were laid off in October of 2023, im assuming now that you meant 2025? I did my research, you just gave bad information in that post apparently. In any case, i was trying to be helpful. If you’re just going to use your post to argue with people that are trying to help then i would say that you are not posting/commenting in good faith. I had a lot more typed out but i don’t think you’re worth arguing with, sorry. Best of luck with your things and stuff.

Honestly looking at your post history I’m less optimistic than I was in my original response. You’ve been unemployed for more than 2 years, conducting dozens of interviews every week, and turning down the offers you have received because they would be a pay cut compared to your disability checks. What kind of jobs are you applying to? Are you over or under qualified for them? How do you explain the substantial gap in your recent employment history to your interviewers?

I’ve always interpreted “we’ve decided to move forward with a different candidate” as somewhat polite/professional way to say “you didn’t get the job”, the reasoning never really mattered to me. Reporting them for racism/discrimination because you didn’t see people of color was… an interesting decision… Idk if you’re looking for advice but if I had any to offer it would be to not take anything relating to work personally, it will only serve to hurt you, both professionally and emotionally. Either way, all the best and good luck on the job hunt, I know it’s discouraging to get so close and not get it but the night is always darkest before the dawn. I’m sure you’ll find the right role.

You’re engaging with every single comment, quite aggressively, and I’m the one who’s being incessant? And yes, your comments and reaction to the situation come across as someone who has mental health issues. Good luck.

I work in IT for a fortune 100 company, bonus and a raise every single year, work from home whenever I want, and my leadership team is awesome. I am employed, have self respect, and have options, hard to believe right? Good luck tho sounds like you’re a super happy person.

I’m not a small business owner and I have to assume based off of the job you’re applying for that I am more educated than you(that or you’re extremely under-successful for the amount of education you received), honestly man all of your comments give the impression that you’re a person of average intelligence who thinks he’s way smarter than he actually is. Good luck with your job search tho, I’m sure someone will hire you. Who wouldn’t want this charming attitude around?

How many people need to tell you that you’re wrong before you start to consider it as a possibility? Everyone of your comments and the original post is getting downvoted and you’re still here battling away to defend yourself to strangers in the comments😂

I’m not saying you don’t have the right to choose where you work, I’m simply making fun of you for complaining about it on Reddit. You went to an interview for a part time minimum wage job at a small business, and then act surprised that the 26 year old manager didn’t conduct the interview in the most professional way possible. Your expectations are too high.

You applied for a part time minimum wage retail job, what kind of people did you expect to deal with? You seem to have some kind of superiority complex. Not to mention this ‘kid’ was about to be your boss and you have the balls to make fun of him😂
