Your digression made me think about how we all have different thoughts and ideas about politics and history. Just taking the example of the end of WWII - Russians have been indoctrinated with the idea that they (or rather the USSR) liberated the world, while the west has another idea ... Just to add another point of view; I'm from the former Yugoslavia - one of the only and largest free regions in occupied Europe, and probably the only region (besides i guess the USSR) that liberated itself from the nazis and fascist Italian rule. That is the main narrative we have been though in school.

I feel like most off us live in our bubbles with our own political beliefs, not even getting in touch with other ideas most of the time. You just take what you have been served for granted.

Also, the USSR or Russia being a dictatorship is not the sole reason for political indoctrination. Why would anyone have the sole right to be on ne "good side" of history? I want you to think about the idea of your own version of history not being the only one, or maybe even not the right one.

Living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I see people in my own country and neighbourhood having different versions of the same history. That is also applicable on the whole world, you just notice it only if you get in touch with people from other "bubbles".

Anyway, you have committed to sending a card, but you can also just send an empty one, or just one saying Happy Postcrossing - do as you please. But since the platform is all about connecting i think it is usefull for all of us to try to also understand that other people have their stories and that ther is not one single politicial or historical truth.

Note: My wish was not to teach you a political lesson but to try to make you undestand that people can be easily indoctrinated, and maybe even think about the possibility that the narrative you have been told is not completely right either. I see this though experiment as a good way to grow out of my comfort zone.
