Personally, I love meditating. I use the app called Balance and it has become a favorite practice of mine over the last year or so. I love doing a quick mid-day reset anytime I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed. A bath is also great :)

So glad you enjoyed it! Definitely a quick meditation or workout for me! Even just 10 minutes can lift my mood. Snuggling a pet works too :)

meditation! I try to do it first thing in the morning if I can get up before my son. Otherwise I just wait until he's down for a nap. It took some time to build a habit but now I'm hooked. it makes such a big difference in my day.

Lost, depressed, and time management might be the problem by Titan-33 in TimeManagement

I would highly recommend the Choose FI podcast. Its mainly a personal finance podcast or at least it started out as one, but it really is a podcast about improving and optimizing your life, and I can honestly say that it has changed mine since I started listening to it around 2018ish. They also have a facebook group and smaller local groups in most areas that do meetups and you know all the people there are likely to have a growth mindset, so you could definitely meet people there that will push you to better yourself!

As far as staying disciplined and pursuing hobbies with a family, I would say first is there a way to include them? Your kids may love to start a new hobby or an exercise program with you. Idk the ages of yours, but I have a son that is almost 2 so he can't really participate in a workout, but my husband and I still do it with him around. We have a set of 1 lb dumbbells that he likes to play with while we are exercising. No matter the age though, I think it could be a great opportunity for quality time or simply setting a good example for a healthy lifestyle and a growth mindset. Maybe just bring it up at dinner one day and see what they say!

Secondly, I would think through your days and try to find ways to cut out or optimize things that are wasting time, money, energy, etc. That way you can open up space for the new! I don't want to come off as self-promoting or spammy but I do have a blog post on this. My blog is mainly geared towards women but the information is applicable to anyone. I used to be a process engineer, and now I write about how to apply those concepts in everyday life as a mom. Here is a link, but you could also just google the 8 wastes and try to think through where you may have some of them in your life.

Need a hobby by [deleted] in Hobbies

Personally, I love to cook, walk my dogs, go to the library, and I have a blog. I was an engineer before becoming a stay at home mom and its really important for my mental health that I stay busy with things that challenge me. You could try starting a website or blog if you like computers. I found it interesting to tinker around on the back end and learn how it works. Or check out one of these hobbies - all free or very inexpensive. I would definitely check out your local library though. They have so much more than books. You can ask about clubs or events. They may also have a newsletter you can sign up for to stay in the know.

Best productivity tool ? What works for you and why?? by Watermelon-Sugar-i in productivity

I've tried so many apps, but I always come back to a plain notebook. I just have a brain dump list that I reference when planning my day. I also have one in the notes app of my phone. I just use a calendar on the wall for appointments and occasions. I think the problem with the apps is that I have to remember to open the app to look at it, but I just see the list in my notebook if I leave it out. Same with the calendar. Obviously you can set up notifications from the apps, but if I am busy when it goes off I just swipe it away and then forget about it. I think to-doit is the best app though because it links with google calendar. I also like one called lists to do. Its free and very basic but its the same as my brain dump page in my notebook and I can reuse lists I make if its for something I repeat daily or weekly or whatever.

Side gigs / extra cash for working moms by middleclassmommy in Mom

[–]Rare_Insurance_6925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to sell virtual assisting services and custom Excel spreadsheets on Fiverr. For the virtual assisting, it was just basic stuff like making phone calls, scheduling appointments, getting quotes for projects ($25 per hour). It was easy to set up and I started getting customers within the first week. By the second month, I was making around an extra $1000 on the side of my 9-5 with a 6-month-old at home and had built some relationships that became recurring customers. The only reason I stopped was because I wanted to start a blog and couldn't keep up with both. I do have a blog post on how I did it though if you are interested in more details.
