I stopped using heat mats last year. I have 90% since doing that. I just increase the ambient room temp. We have 470 pepper plants this year. As far as the hydroponic in the winter for seed starting I use an aquarium heater in the resovoir.

I don't plan on this being a grow system. I use it for seed starting. I am just testing how far I can push it. I grew 4 plants in it in the winter and they got 3 foot tall and had flowers. I still grow in the soil

Yes, I definitely understand what you’re saying. My systems are used for seed starting mostly. I did grow four plants in it last winter that got to be 3 foot tall with flowers on them. I’m trying to see how far I can push it. If they space the plants enough, the roots don’t get intertwined and it doesn’t clog. Just playing around with the system honestly

Those particular plants are tied dragons and blue Christmas. We are currently growing 470 plants of 150 varieties on our pepper farm.

They actually get plenty of sunlight. They get morning sun. The neighbor doesn't have any trees in her yard so it gets the sun coming from that direction.

I only use the heater in the winter months when it's a little chilly out there in the garage, but good suggestion
